awwwwww Thanks so much MayEbony
I actually celebrated my 44th birthday with my Great Aunty in Finland this year!!
I left Canada on the 3rd of Sept and just returned the day before yesterday.
It was a dream come true for me to go to Finland and to also meet my Aunty who will turn 101 in December. She still lives alone, she gardens and looks after herself very well. She has a strong voice and it is so hard to believe she is 100 yrs old, wow! She told me I was a young girl yet, lol
I had the best food and my cousin baked me the most tastiest cake I ever had. It is a birthday to remember! I'm so fortunate
I will write up a post soon with photos when I adjust to life again here at home. I'm suffering jet lag because of the 10 hr time difference. Right now it is 3am here in Canada and I'm wide awake, lol it'll take a few days I guess.
Thank you so much for the b-day wishes, I did have the most awesome day ever

ahhh yes, my family is strong and all work until they move to heaven. When I was there I met all my 2nd cousins too who are now well into their 70's and 80's and each one still works. I have one cousin who is an artist, she's 81 and the day I got there she had just returned home from teaching art class far away in another town. She drove for hours to get home and she said to me come at 4pm as she will not be home until 3pm... what??!! Don't you need time to rest?? No, it doesn't matter just come! I thought to myself, wow they are all just like my Dad who is also 81 and still working too. Now I know where he gets it all from!
I'm so proud of them all
No, unfortunately I don't speak Finnish, however, many of them speak English so I was lucky and my guide and roommate while I was there was my cousin who speaks English very well and was my translator.
I promised them all I will try to learn some Finnish before my next visit so they bought me a Finnish course for my b-day, LOL
My dad speaks 5 languages including Finnish so maybe it will come naturally to me *fingers crossed*
OH May, I am SO afraid of flying! I had to take 3 different flights to get there and in fact just before I boarded the longest flight (10hrs 35 min) my head was screaming "JUST run away!! Run now while you have a chance! But my heart kept me walking to the plane for my aunty who I knew was waiting. What we don't do for family!! But I would rather take a boat next time even though it will take 3 weeks to get there, lol
The jet lag is tough to beat, I'm sloooowly getting back to normal. I agree the trip home is tougher than the going. I don't want to fly again for a long time to come *maybe never again?!* lol

I know, right? They were incredible! By the time I'd eaten that and drunk the hot chocolate in that mug I was sooooo full, but it was worth every calorie

Oh dear. Having had food poisoning on Monday I can imagine. I ate out Sunday lunch time and the attack came on Monday mid-morning, which seems a bit slow to have been from the cafe food. Who knows. My Grandmother said that if they dropped a piece of bacon on the floor they'd just chuck it back in the frying pan for a moment or two and then serve it anyway. Yet she was OTT OCD about clealiness (how do you spell that?) in her own kitchen.
