What could be Very interesting is if there was a Mirror Tamara that was "Adopted" by Janet as a Sister.

Well, since I've brought Nova Trek to an end, I don't see that one happening.

The new movies are not an alternate universe- despite what Abrams is doing. It's supposed to be an altered timeline- which is a totally different beast from an alternate universe. What has most of us older fans in an uproar is that Abrams can't tell the difference and insists on treating the altered timeline like an Alternate universe.
With an altered timeline, the changing of a single event- in this case the death of Kirk's father- should only effect one person- Kirk. That change should not have any effect on anyone or anything else. The rest of the crew should have lived the same lives they lived first time around- and that includes the ship.
Instead, Abrams took that one change as a free ticket to change anything he wanted to- even though it shouldn't have worked that way.
Sorry to go on like this, but that movie- just thinking about it- sets me off.

But if the old time line still exists (at least if you see the Star trek online game as canon)....
then that would mean that the New timeline is now an alternate universe because the old timeline and the new timeline cannot exist together.
There's a popular theory amongst scientists today that states that altering timelines would actually only create new alternate universes instead of changing your future completely. and that's why Time traveling as we think of it is actually impossible. for example, if you went back in time to give yourself winning tickets for the lottery you would be only making an new alternate version of yourself richer. And so when you returned to your original place nothing would had really changed for you other than knowing that you actually created a new alternate universe in which your family was now living the super-rich lifestyle thanks to the ten million dollars you won as a 18-year-old. Heck, the rich alternate person could had wound up marrying a celebrity or somebody else entirely instead of your husband/wife. so this other person who was supposed to be you... ended up being a different person than you entirely.
All you could do is hope that whatever you did also had some sort of cosmic effect on your older universe when you returned to it, also making you richer in some way.
However...I do agree that it's bullshit how Abrams decided to drastically change everything. younger characters... okay, I can understand that. Kirk's life.. okay. But for EVERY single character to be profoundly changed by a single event in space? that's just stretching it a little too far.
