Gen is a medieval knight that was deployed to take care of some kind of beast, based on the sliced up trees, along with his two companions in the background. He is more laid-back compared to the other two. What really caught my attention was the stag in place of his reflection. Is that a reference to a family crest? Is it referring to a curse he has, and he was the one responsible for the damage to the trees?

I guess he is a medival knight and likes going off chilling into the lake.
He is watching his comrads riding on horse.
I like this piece , it looks cool with the calmin colors so i think Gen is a calm relaxed person .

Looks like Gen is a warrior along with Al and Elihal. He seems to be more laid back and chill than the other two, and I wouldn't be surprised to learn he acts as a stabilizer for their little group. He might be a soldier, but he likes to find moments of relaxation and peace for himself when he can. He doesn't ignore the world completely when he does that though. He still keeps an eye and an ear open in case his friends need him.
I'm noticing what looks like it might be a stag head reflecting in the water. Perhaps the animal has some significance to him, like a family crest or nickname or something like that. Or maybe it's just a random shape and I have my aluminum foil hat on too tightly.

It's so shiny and stylish. I'm glad to hear the stag shape was actually a thing and not something my brain was making up. I'm also super happy I managed to get so many things right. I might have some observation skills after all!

Will he ever get a surname? Is that something you have to go on a quest for?
Off topic but I really like how you colored the water...
Gen seems to be with a group of knights? They've had a hard day of work, possibly involving clearing out trees? Or using them to practice? And he's taking some time to relax before heading back out with the others. He's not entirely alone, as he's keeping an eye on his friends.

In all truth, you do gain a surname - or a moniker - when you get renowned for something (so going on a quest to gain a surname is definitely on the list of 'How to Gain a Surname'), that's how his friend and superior got his surname. Gen is still looking for one beyond 'Helmet Hair' or 'Bulky Guy'.
Thank you for your kind words and your lovely guess! Indeed, Gen is part of a light cavalry squad, and is a relaxed individual with a couple of close friends he trusts. Though his main mission over the course of the plot is, in fact, keeping an eye on the people who clear terrain, he did not participate in that activity himself. Rather, Gen is a bit of a berserker who sometimes needs to cool down outside of the encampment, which sometimes results in torn-up trees. Even so, he tends to be a mild-mannered person.

Beautiful piece, it's wonderful to finally meet the mysterious Gen!
Gen is a high-ranking warrior in a medieval fantasy setting. Judging by the design of the helmet in the grass (and by recognizing Al and Elihal in the background^^), he is a member of the Holorian Army, one of Captain Balder's most trusted warriors, his importance suggested by the sturdy armour and the castle in the background. I might be tempted to say that the reflection in the water suggests he is a shape-shifter, but the fact the he is wearing armour points against this theory (there would hardly be any use for it if he had this power). So I think it is simply a fallen branch from the torn and slashed trees.
They are in the midst of a mission, most probably connected to the destruction of the forest they are in; they were sent to investigate its causes, which are probably magical. Gen's light expression, relaxed pose and the way he is so engaged in the activity of cooling off and washing while his companions are about to leave makes me believe that he is laid-back, optimistic, indulgent, the kind of person who values the simple things in life. Not reckless or negligent, but an even-tempered man whose positive attitude and his reliability make him a pillar of stability for his companions. They are calling to him, perhaps a little exasperated by his delay, but there is an air of comradery in the interaction of the three of them, which leads me to believe Gen is well-liked, a kind, friendly, and outgoing man who can be a shoulder to cry on and the life of a party when in an informal situation.
I'm very curious to learn more about him!

Thank you so very much for your amazing guess! You've got one of the best ones!
You got him down perfectly! Indeed, Gen is a high-officer in my own fantasy setting, and I am so happy you even remember the name of the main military force! He's one of Al's closest friends and only true confidant (Elihal is a lovely person, but she's too much of a lose projectile). You're one of the few (and by few, I mean only three people ) to guess that he might be a skin-changer - when I first read your comment, I was utterly thrilled. He put his armor aside because he has yet to put it on after a hefty berserker episode: he had to put on a new shirt first, and may dress in his armor once he's fully done washing up. ^^
Although they weren't send on a mission to figure out what caused the destruction (that being Gen himself), they were send out on a mission to investigate magical trouble in another forest when Gen got agitated; I didn't hint at that at all, but you figured it anyways.
You got his personality down to a T - Gen is the most relaxed, laid-back, and indulgent of the Terrible Trio, making him into the main stabilizing force between the more volatile Elihal and Alwen, and he knows how to take life as it is. He is reliable and loyal to a fault - they're true comrades in arms.
Hope not to disappoint, and again, thank you for your wonderful Guess!

It's good that Gen has friends like Eli to keep his beast identity secret. The public probably wouldn't like knowing that an unpredictable creature like him was in their military and in charge of keeping them safe.

Wow, your work with markers is phenominal! You did a great job with the colours, details and compostion here!
Gen looks to be a peaceful and laid-back knight who seems to enjoy peace and quiet in his own company and being in the background, but cares a lot about his comrads, keeping a watchful eye on them in the distance. I'm guessing he's the protective and level-headed member of the trio? I'm also guessing that he might be Southern European going by his helmet and dark olive complexion. That he doesn't have a surname makes me wonder if he was orphaned, or he wanted to shed away his family name for a significant reason.
I find it interesting that his demanor reads as friendly, peaceful and gentle here, considering he's a knight, and there's all these trees around him that look to have been slashed down, by what looks to be his doing with his sword beside his helmet. I wonder if he has another side of himself that's vastly different from the warm demenor we see here? The reflection in the water is another interesting detail here, with what looks to be a deer. Maybe he has a deer form or has a spiritual animal guide that is a deer? There seems to be a lot of mystery surrounding him! I look forward to seeing his following tasks!

He looks like a big old sweetheart but in the wrong crowd which makes me hard to believe that he's part of a terrible Trio. Maybe just tagging along since to me he has nowhere else to go or his place in the world. I think he's the muscle in the group and he seems to know his way around the outdoors. He looks gentle but strong and kind-hearted. But there is something a little bit off it's the background all the trees are broken and slashed and not by an ax though and he's not wearing any armor he only has a helmet and a weapon. So I wonder what happened and what's his role in the group.

Hm seeing his rather friendly face and you saying he's part of a group called "Terrible Trio"? Maybe his appearance may deceive the eye and him being actually a very skilled warrior or just the varlet of one of the other 2?

Hmmm... I get the feeling there is more here than meets the eye.
Gen is a big man but for a soldier, he has a gentle expression. There is a kind of relaxed strength about him. The fact that he doesn't have a surname is interesting too. Al and his companions, foes and superiors all have surnames. It points to him coming from a very simple or small culture.
His helmet and sword look basically Greek in design and he has what looks like chainmail armour beside him. But importantly, he's not wearing it. Out in the field. None of the others have taken exception to this and I would presume chainmail takes an effort and makes a fair bit of noise to remove. So its probable this happens a lot. A strange state of affairs for a soldier. Especially one working for Va.
He seems very at home in the outdoors and it may just be the angle of the view but I don't see a horse for him, unlike the other two. Though by the looks of him it would need to be a fairly big one LOL.
Lastly all the trees are broken. Not chopped down by axe or cut by saw but jaggedly broken by brute force. Add in the claw marks I see on the trunks and I can but blindly jump to one conclusion...
Adding up all the evidence I would have to guess that Gen is actually a WereBear.

Woohoo
Well, given the amount of Greek stuff I do with Artemis and Diana's Helmet, that one was probably a given
As for the Werebear, well, I actually couldn't make out the reflection on my screen so it was pure deduction LOL. I'm not sure where I first came across were-bears but I have read about them. But more of it was based on his persona. A bear as a spirit guide is one of wisdom, not strength. The broken trees and claw marks were a big clue. But his size and expression were what settled it.
So I really have to say well done to you. All of these clues made the guess possible. You did an amazing job in bringing them all out in this.
It's clue-fests like this that make guessing truly a pleasure

Judging by the clothing style, the castle in the background and the helmet next to him, I'd say he's some variant of a medieval knight? He seems like a guy who likes to chill and take things slowly, since he's relaxing with his feet in the water!

Hurray! I'm excited to learn all about Gen and how he completes the Trio.
Gen is a solider just like Al and Elihal. But he seems more laid back than the other two. He has a warm smile and is taking it easy by removing his armor and chain mail. Relaxing in this moment of downtime. It looks like his choice of weapon is a short sword.
I'm guessing they just got done with a battle as he is now resting up. Most of the trees are destroyed. The other two are very keen in taking care of their horses and getting back to base. (I'm guessing that's base way off in the distance.) But he's going to take advantage of the moment instead.
Perhaps sometimes he's more of a loner, though he is apart of the trio. He enjoys solitude and is okay being in the background. Having all the attention on him could make him nervous, especially because he's not even facing the camera.

Gen has a very easy going nature and enjoys the simple things in life, like relaxing in the sunshine and dipping his feet into a cool river. He is another member of the Holorian army, serving under Captain Balder, working alongside Al and Eli. He fights with a spear.
There appears to be a stag in his reflection... Hmm... Let's dig into the symbolism of that. He's resilient, strong, and gentle. He definitely has a protective nature and probably acts as kind of the big brother to the group, being more level headed that the rest of them. He might be a spiritual person, or he has a past tied to royalty. Considering the fortress/castle in the background, I will go with that guess. What made him join the army, I look forward to finding out.
The gashes on the trees concern me. I wonder if there is a certain large predator that hunts him/he is after. Or, if I go with another symbolic guess, the fallen trees might tell me that he's lost his home, foundation, or a significant loved one. Perhaps to the suspected beast!
Very much looking forward to finding out more about him.

Okay, so it looks like Gen is a warrior in a small group. Maybe a scouting party or a small group of specialists. It looks like the other two are saddling up to go while Gen is still relaxing, so I would guess he’s more the laidback type (especially since he seems in a good mood surrounded by the destruction). The trees are ripped to shreds with numerous claw marks, so they probably fight large creatures. I’m going to throw out the guess “dragon” just because it’s a medieval fantasy looking setting between the attire and the castle in the background. I’m not totally sure what the darkness in the water is, because I can interpret several ways depending on how I look at it. It could just be a branch in the water, or a vaguely horse-shaped reflection (that does look like the right dimensions to be from his theoretical-but-likely-exists horse, but since I have no idea where it’s standing, who knows. ) Final possibility, again on the dragons, is it’s a large creature flying overhead. It’s interesting that Gen has the earrings, but with his companions so far away, it’s hard to know if that’s his personal style or a standard for his rank/culture.
Based on the comment saying that he only has a first name and the fact that he doesn’t look like the mysterious type, I’m going to guess he’s either an orphan or generally lower class (so he either doesn’t know his name or it doesn’t matter to anyone himself included) or he might have had amnesia at some point and did not recover his memories, and “Gen” is the only name he’s had since. That seems the least likely however.

Thank you for your lovely, elaborate guess! It was a joy to read!
Indeed, Gen is a warrior in a relatively small light cavalry band consisting of specialists. He's the most laid-back of his friends, and knows when to take it easy. Though you're not entirely on the mark, Gen's friends are experienced with fighting large beasts, amongst them Gen himself - Gen is a cursed, antlered skin-changer, much to his own dismay.
The story takes place in an original setting that is heavily inspired by medieval Europe. ^^ There are creatures they dub 'dragons' but they did not enter the stage here; the destruction is all Gen's own doing. After he cooled down, he had to wash up and got some new clothes. He does have a horse, but it's currently not with him (when he is fully shifted, he has no need for a horse, meaning he has to travel with his friend's horse to get back to the semi-temporary encampment in the distance )
I'm delighted you noticed his earrings! It's part of his culture first and foremost, where people get their ears pierced when they come of age.
Just as you mentioned, Gen is from lower-class society, and has humble origins. He is rather secretive though (even if not-looking-secretive is his thing), as he doesn't want anyone (aside from his close associates) to know he is a skin-changer. ^^

Oh no. D: I guess his friends look okay, so everything turned out all right, but that is kinda a shit start to a day to go berserk mode and kill all the poor trees. Though he seems pretty chill with it all, so I guess when you have moments of crazy you learn to shrug it off and move on. It’s a curse; not much you can do about it other than give a few muffled apologies and hope everyone involved in the mess just sighs in acceptance. Though given his career, it's gotta be useful as much as a burden.
I do like that dynamic; he looks very open-book, but has a lot of secrets to hide. I mean, what better way to hide them than to look so open and friendly that no one would assume there is anything more going on.
