Love it. I did a drawing somewhat similar to this in pencil. I threw it away though.

Thank you. I framed this one for a show I had for the month of October. Used an antique frame and the velvet type mats in brown. I might keep it. I've never kept any of my stuff. Always goes on the "sold" block as soon as possible.

Thank you. Very good reminder I needed. I've been fretting about what to paint for an up-coming exhibit and this just reminded me. I so rarely paint flowers, I forget about them. But a series of flowers would be just the right thing. The show is a fund-raiser for cancer patients and related things. Several galleries are participating. All the artists are cancer survivors. *hits self in side of head* How could I forget about this genre?
I appreciate your comment bringing my attention back to this one.
Have a great day.

No problem. I hope you will note me, or link it to me, when you do.
I don't know how to use anything except pencil and watercolor, and charcoal. I made one chalk pastel and I liked it, but not the dust mess.
I stopped over at your site, but I have chronic fatigue, dumb thing, and my arms and hands are shaky tonight. I need to get off the computer.
I will visit your gallery soon and take time looking around.
Again, thanks for the watch.

I like all sorts of styles but the "old world" has an allure I cannot explain.
Wonderful handling of the wash in the background. I like the textures created by the mingling of the pigments. Well done!

Thanks for taking a look at my art and giving these positive comments. You have a flair with words, as well as your wonderful images.
This one is actually a much longer composition. I wanted to save the image while it is here, and in a fairly close cropped version.
Now that I have the luxury of taking a scan of different stages, I can save the many paintings that lie under the one when I make my guess that I have finished.
The background is more prominent, higher, more of it in the original. If I pick it up again, this one may become a memory, as far as an original. The gamble of creativity. Will it rise higher, or descend into disappointing mud. For this one, not such a risk. I could always cut, or mat the top out of the image if it becomes overpowering.
I ended up with mud only once, and it was a perfect depiction of the emotions I was getting in touch with. Horrid image on a full watercolor sheet.
I do hope to get this old world feel in more florals. There is a pink one in my gallery, and this one. They are the only flowers I have ever painted.
I like to have a sense of paradox in my paintings. I think I told you in an earlier comment I have studied many galleries since I came to dA. Maybe it could be compared to trying things on, to see if it resonates with what I want to express.
You paint the only images I would actually want to keep around me. As you say "an allure I cannot explain".
Your words are helping me find it, just as your images point the way. I haven't painted in a while, except for a couple of commissions. I've been busy, studying my soul, to chart a new course. Old world...

Be well with the "soul study". I do this from time to time. We look forward to seeing new work from you when it happens.

there is so much feeling in this piece, the colours are simply stunning and I love the simple yet utterly inricate form. it feels very rustic and full of memory. I am so jealous of how much passion you can show in your work.

Oh, wow. This is gorgeous! I especially love how the dark background makes the rose stand out - it's rare to see such a dark bg in a watercolour flower painting.

Thank you. This comment slipped past me.
I was just "tap-dancing" my way through, trying to catch any loose ends.
Haven't had a chance to see all the new wonders on your site. Hope to soon. Going for some of that art-making time, as you have suggested in your words on your site.
Very good advice.
