No, on the contrary, I think it's for quite the same reasons Working quickly forces you to look at the overall picture more. That way, instead of getting lost in details, you get the essential parts of the image down, and then you can always go in later and refine the whole thing.
Here at work I do the same...everytime we start a new area, for a few days all I do is quick sketching. And afterwards we pick the best shots and work them out in more detail
When I did figure drawing with models, I was always glad when we did short poses, for much the same reason. Sadly, in most courses it seems to be longer poses... and I really need to do more figure drawing, I'm crap with figures

OMG, awsome! Can u teach me? So COOL!
Does that pretty much cover the usual comments?
Okay, it makes me SO mad that you have to have the premium membership to leave what dA calls a "critique". Fortunately, I have been more than up to the task of writing my own, without guidelines and a voting system, and have been doing it for some time now.
*sigh*
You know what I like most about this picture? The water is great, and the ice in the water is very well done, but the best part about this picture is the way the wall of ice on the left has the edge three quarters of the way up. It's such a simple thing, but it completely makes the picture in a way that nothing else in the picture did. Of course, that's not to say that the rest of it isn't amazing, but when you put this picture side by side with the other speedpaintings that you've done a little more recently, there are distinct ways that I can see the improvement, which for an artist of your stature is really amazing. I know too many artists in the upper eschelon of the online communities who don't really see a need to continue to improve themselves, which is a dangerous position to take, so seeing you take the effort to get better is really neat.
The only thing off about the picture from a technical standpoint is that the water is too flat. In a narrow straight like the one pictured here, there would be a few more waves present. Or at least, that's what I think.
And man, every time you upload a picture I have to rush off to my notebooks and furiously write up ideas and draw maps. You for some odd reason very much inspire my desire to create new worlds, new locations, and then write them full of odd, often highly sarcastic characters, and give them lots of beautiful women to have sex with...
I digress. But seriously, upload some more, and soon! Or I will have to search you out and force you to continue to draw and upload!

Oh my god, you're alive Haha, whew! Glad to see you around
As always, I'm really thankful for your in-depth comment. You are quite right, the water looks a bit calm. I think it was like that in the reference photo that I looked at back then, but some things work in a photo that don't work in a painting. But the icy kind of environment was heaps of fun to do
And I quite like the way you say my paintings inspire you
I don't know though how much I will upload soon, as right now I'm working all on paper with my trusted pencils, pens and markers, and I'm really enjoying it The only digital piece at the moment is a commission. But hehe, that certainly doesn't mean that I won't do anymore digital pieces, it may just take a little
How's life treating you?

Haha, yeah, I'm alive and kicking, still. Life's treating me well also, so I don't have any complaints.
You're doing traditional medium art? You should show us some of that. I sometimes think that traditional pens and pencils are harder than digital to draw with.
