Description The city's destroyed, the streets are deserted
And somehow nobody has been alerted
The sky is overcast, it shrouds in dark grey
Everything that has happened on this fateful day
Just look at the buildings, or at least what's left behind
There's so much rubble nobody'll ever see what's inside
The half standing buildings that no longer have a ceiling
The people lying still that have no more feeling
Just the look on their face is enough to send you reeling
Because these cards aren't the ones you were originally dealing
Your face contorts with every turn of your head
And your nose shrivels from the stench of the dead
You knew this was coming, I mean, look at the city
This was all your plan, you knew it wouldn't be pretty.
Just a week ago, nobody was thinking
That this old artificial town was about to be sinking
It had just reached it's prime, and for a short time
On a one to ten scale, it was a definite time.
There was once a museum, but it was way in the back
However, you just had to follow the railroad tracks
It was a very large place, with a whole lot of space
And in some points in time, it was the town's saving grace.
People tried to go there every day, but it was just so expensive
Even the outside made some people apprehensive
Because if you looked through the mirrors, the guards got quite defensive
But right before they dropped the drapes, you saw things quite extensive
The artist behind them, you probably thought
Was a respectable fellow, came from a good lot
However, you must not have looked very close
You'd have realized the picture was much more morose
Than you had previously fathomed would be thought of by the mind
You had thought those types of mindsets were left behind
In the time period of Poe, you might've expected it
How disturbed he must be, and how his work reflected it
But let's move on, we've stayed here too long
So how about we look at the other things gone wrong.
Look at the park, used to be such a pinnacle of hope
Where kids would play, and couples elope
Now just barren and desolate, playgrounds shattered
Tennis courts gone, tree branches scattered
You couldn't understand, just couldn't ever guess
That what you had planned would be such a success
And when you turn around, admiring your work
You look at the house where you used to hide all of your heart
It's amazing how rapidly your expression changed
When you saw that everything had remained the same
Had to get a closer look, could not believe it is true
That something so weak could survive all of you
But the house is immaculate, it actually even looks better
Than how it looked all of the other years put together
The walls aren't crumbling, the door's not hanging off the hinges
There isn't any evidence of past drug binges
And as you open that door, just to see what's inside
You're instantly reminded of all you had to hide
The nights all alone, just you and your tears
Wearing long thick sweaters to cover all of your tears
It takes everything you have not to break down right there
And drains all you have left just to beat the despair
So you shut the door from the inside, and lock yourself in the house
Where compared to one room, you're as small as a mouse
And as you look out the window, leaning over the shelf
You realize that now your world is really just you, after you killed yourself.
