This. Is. Amazing. It's crazy how easily can Final Fantasy(especially VIII) evoke emotions in me, and this picture does it again, and strongly.

What form of emotion though? I get nostalgia of course.

The ending is special to me, as a child it took me years to get to the end of FF8 - i would always start over, it was well worth the wait.

Me too! When I started playing it, I could be about 6 years old, so there's no need saying that my English was pretty bad back then. But I took dictionary and tried to translate every word and then put it all together. I also started over countless times and finished it for the first time at around 12 years. And then I just played it all over again and again.

As always 'you've hit the nail with the hammer'.
I believe I have said before that I believe Ultimecia actually suceeds i her Time compression due to the text in both the beggining, and the end of th FF8.
The God (not goddess) Hyne is mentioned much more in the Japanese version, in fact, theres a huge epilogue about Him and how his power was shared, and the divisional 3 who have a relationship similar to Rinoa and Squalls (and seifers) knightship one.

Hyne, Zabalaga, and the other sorcerers/esse's plot is explained in the epilogue.
