    Okay so with my recent headcanon of Pinkie Pie actually being the Cake's kid and having been adopted by the Pies, I thought it'd be funny to draw her next to her rock family. They are all jacked as hell cause of rock farming and have a more dull color palette which I think is such a contrast to pinkie's small, round, brightly colored vibe. Despite this very obvious difference it was a very big shock to Pinkie when her parents told her she was adopted even though literally everyone already knew. I got a lot of inspo from Vindhov's post What if Big? where she drew the pie sisters and generally from Lopoddity's designs for Maud.

As for the pies themselves, I have a couple of small details I’ve thought up while drawing this.
    See, rock farming is all about the magical properties rocks can provide and they are farmed to be sold for charms, potions, and spells. Most rocks carry very little magical energy however rocks with more magical energy are sought out, dug up, or mined by rock farmers. The rocks are then brought back to the farm to be curated which takes time and patience. It’s almost a sort of spiritual practice for those who have been farming for generations.
    Cloudy Quartz’s family has been farming rocks for centuries and they pride themselves on providing the most powerful rocks to all of Equestria. Cloudy Quartz’s talent is being able to sense the magic of a rock, and with years of experience she is incredibly skilled in the curation of energy. She takes her job very seriously and she took over the farm and the family legacy.
    Igneous Rock Pie was a regular miner when he met Cloudy and fell head over heels for her. He took her out looking for rocks and would dig and pick for her to get whatever rock she desired and she eventually fell for him as well. They run the farm together, Igneous handling the more labor intensive work while Cloudy covers the magic side as well as the financial aspect.
    Maud is their oldest child whose passion is looking into more of the scientific aspect behind rocks. Maud travels a lot, collecting rocks and samples from far away lands and often brings home the particularly magical rocks for their mother to curate, as they inherited her mother’s ability to sense rock energies. Maud is also non-binary in my hc.
    Limestone also has the ability to sense magic in rocks, however she isn’t a fan of farm life. She lived most of her childhood and teen years without a cutie mark before accidentally discovering that it was bartending during aa night out. Her parents were utterly confused but they understood it made Lime happy and now she lives in Manehattan working at a bar.
    Marble Pie’s talent is sensing rock energies just like her mother and is very passionate about the farm. She’s shy but plans to take over the family business when her parents retire (if they ever retire). She really likes the spiritual aspect of rock farming and host meditation sessions every so often in her rock garden.
    Pinkie was never able to sense the energies of rocks like her sisters and she felt left out a lot because of it. She felt like she was a sort of disappointment and she turned to throwing parties for her family to compensate. Her family was always very loving and supportive of everything she did and they love her very much.
