Description
This is a pencil drawing of Mariano Rivera, pitcher for the New York Yankees. He departs from the bullpen to the sounds of "Enter Sandman" by Metallica because he is a feared figure on the mound.Drawn with a variety of H and B pencils.

Your work is amazing. Do you use a grid or any other techniques like that to get the pictures so perfect, or do you just draw it completely from looking at the reference?

Thanks. I do use a grid. I used to do straight freehand but it took way to long, so I switched to a grid. Way faster.

I've only used the grid method a few times. Normally I just look at reference and draw freehand. But I should try using the grid more since it produces such better results.

Yeah the grid is way faster. I always second guess myself using straight freehand . . . even if I know I did it right, so the grid works well for me.

Was that a great World Series or what?! My Cardinals got knocked out of it very early on, and so i was able to watch a lot of baseball without an emotional investment in it. This World Series had a lot of great games, and i was hopeful there would be a game seven because i did not want the season to end. But end it did, and i can say totally impartially that the Yankees were just flat out the better team. They just stepped up and took it. Can't wait till "catchers and pitchers report" in Jupiter!
I can also say that you caught Rivera's body language on the mound really well here...including the countenance of his face!

That was a fun World Series and postseason. I am glad the Yankees were able to win at home in their new stadium. I was scared of the Cardinals too because of their pitching and Pujols. He would not have folded like Ryan Howard did in the World Series.

Not so sure about Pujols! He and all the other Cardinal bats just did a belly up there at the end.
