She is an appenzeller mountain dog/appenzeller cattle dog.
They have curly tails and in fact shepherds for cows XD

Nice, How big is cocoa?

oh nice. I've never heard of an appenzeller mountain dog. the markings reminded me of a burmeese mountain dog. I used to have an australian cattle dog...but we gave her away to a farm. we've been trying to sell our house and get out to the country and then we woulda bought some sheep for her to herd, but after a year and we were still in town with a bored cattle dog that often became rather destructive, we decided she really needed to be out on a farm. luckily, we had a friend looking for a cattle dog, so we asked if she'd be interested in her and her brother in-laws both fell in love with her. and yeah, she can def herd sheep lol not sure about the cows yet. she wasn't allowed out near them because they had babies, but I think she's likely been around them even more now that the sheep are gone. it's pretty amazing to see her instincts just take over though. it was amazing to watch her bring the sheep over to us...considering she was a year old and hadn't ever seen a sheep or a cow.

Cocoa...hmm...I'm really not sure lol she's bigger than our 2 other dogs, but they're only about 15 pounds...and she's smaller than our cattle dog that was close to 120 pounds...so I'm not sure...she's about the size of a border collie, I think. also, before you go and say it was wrong of us to get another dog after giving away another one, there's a reason why we took her. one of my sisters friends was moving into an apartment and had been abused and kept outside for a year. she hadn't ever been inside a house and that was just cruel in my parents minds. you can also tell she's had a rough time, she's very skitish, she scares easily. she also doesn't handle a lot of noise or rough housing of other people, she gets very defensive if someone is playing too rough with her (which the people that do that are just plain stupid). anyway, we felt bad about it. we also feel guilty for taking her in, when we recently gave up our other dog who we all miss a lot. she was a great animal, but she really needs a farm. we only decided to keep Cocoa because if we didn't then who knows where she would have ended up and my family just kind of has issues with that idea that she could end up continuing to be abused. so we're keeping her. we really don't know much about her lol I'm not sure if my parents have taken her to the vet yet to see about any vet records or anything because that information would be nice...she doesn't even have any tags yet. so yeah lol hopefully my parents get that fixed soon.

They are like a small short haired version of a burneese mountain dog. XD
like a little cousin XD

Oh I have two frinds which both have australian cattle dog. They really need a job or else they go crazy. They are clever and if they haven't anything to do they break everything or even worser hurt themselves.
It was a good decision to give her away, even if it was hard.

WOW, so you have 3 dogs?

I don't have high meaning of people which chain their dogs outside and never let them in. There is still a little bit wolf in them and they need a pack. My dogs can go where they want, the yoiunger one also sleeps at my sofa.

oh I see, that would explain why the markings are similar xD

yeah, they really do. unfortunately we weren't able to give her something to do as we had hoped. yea...she was destructive and we even walked her twice a day. I usually took her out on 2 - 3 hour walks and then one of my sisters would take her out again for a hour, which helped a bit, but with me and one of my other sisters in college, there's just no one else who can take her out. so the farm is a better place for her.
yea, we realized that pretty quick. once we saw her out with the sheep and actually know to bring them to us we knew then that it was the right choice.

yep. 3 of em. 2 of them are brother and sister, but from different litters. same parents, but born roughly a year apart.

yea...my family doesn't like people who do that either. what's the point in having a dog if your going to chain it up? so we got her house broken pretty quick lol we want her to be with the family, not outside all the time. my dogs have definitely formed a pack of their own lol they listen to people, well at least anyone in our family, even Cocoa who we didn't have as a pup listens to us. she comes when she's called, she stays if you tell her. she loves people and its pretty amazing how quickly she bonded to us and to our dogs. the first few days she quickly picked up the behaviors of our dogs and has learned that she's at the bottom of the totem poll. she gets any treats last, the other dogs get first and she knows she'll get a turn so she sits and waits politely lol but yeah, we let our dogs do what they like, but for the most part they just follow the little female around until their tired and then fall asleep somewhere lol sometimes they sleep together, sometimes they don't. but yeah, nothing wrong with letting them do what they want in the house.

yeah, I also think dogs should be allowed to do what they want.
Not everything. Well they shouldn't jump on the tables or sleep in bed that aren't theirs, also don't break things but excpect this, why should they go around play, drink or sleep.
I think your dogs got a really nice home. I'm sure they are happy to have such a kind owner.

yea...my dogs disagree xD they jump up on our kitchen table when we aren't looking, however as soon as someone walks into the room they look like a startled deer as they quickly scramble to get off the wooden table lol only one of our dogs do that and it's not the big one, Cocoa, its one of our little guys. we let our dogs sleep wherever they want. they love people and so they want to sleep with them. usually they all sleep in my parents bed lol but sometimes they split up and there often ends up 2 dogs in my bed or sometimes there's all three and sometimes there's one with me and 2 with my youngest sister. they don't really like the middle child as much, she's a bit mean. she gets angry easy so their a little careful around her. when she gets mad at them they quickly run to me and hide behind me or dive under my computer, or well did. since I'm living on college residence atm, so I'm not at home xD but yeah. our dogs can sleep anywhere they want.

overall, they're pretty good. they don't take anything that isn't there's. unless its food. they play nice and they just kind of do their own thing. sometimes they bother the cats. although three of four really don't care. one of our cats out weighs the two small dogs, but she picked on our male when he was a pup. she thought he was a toy, so he picks on her the most and well, she kind of deserves it lol she shouldn't have been such a bully. dumb cat.

thanks ^^ none of the dogs are really mine. the little fluffy ones belong to my mom, Cocoa is now my littlest sister's. I had Penny, I was the one who did make the final decision to give her away, or well give her to my mom's friend on the farm. only because I was leaving and so was my other sister who walked her and she would have just gotten worse if she was there without either of us. so yeah. even though I loved her and she was my first dog, I taught her so many things...but yeah. I miss her a lot, but she's better off at the farm where she can do what she was meant to. I'm pretty sure all of our animals are very happy ^^ although, if anything I'm pretty sure the cats are more mine than anyone's lol just because I take care of them and I used to live down in our basement with them. I love my cats, I can't wait to see them at Christmas ^^ I'm excited to see the dogs again, but I got to see them in September. I miss my animals a lot D: if my place was pet friendly I would have brought one or two of my cats with me. or simple got a new one ^^

I would so love to let my dog sleep in my bed, but I have a bunk bed (?)
She would break her neck if she would try to climb it up.

My older dog hates cat. When she was small a cat hit her with the paw at the nose and she got a deep wound. Well mo no cat dares to touch her ground XD

Giving away your dog must be hurting.
My dog got born here, I was one of the first people who ever touched her.
I could never give her away, not after so many years.

I hope to get a place where I can take my dog. I won't go anywhere without her. :C

oh that makes sense. that's too bad. oh well, leaves more space for you lol

poor puppy, not surprised she doesn't like cats xD my dogs love the cats, the cats aren't too big of fans of the dogs though lol our one cat used to tease them, we used to give them canned food and we'd put it up on a freezer so the dogs couldn't get it. the dogs would sit around the freezer and beg at the cat to give them some xD she'd end up slowly inching the bowl towards the edge and would look down at them and they'd start to whine at her lol it was pretty funny. rather mean of the cat though lol usually I'd just take the bowl from the cat and give it to the dogs because that's just mean.

yeah...it was rough. my parents originally weren't even going to tell me...but then I kind of found out, but I got to meet the people who were going to take her and I also happened to be fostering a mother and her babies at the time, so of course the women wanted to see them lol we also borrowed her babies sometimes to show to my dog, Penny, to try and teach her they weren't food. we attempted to get the mother to teach her by letting her take a swat at her...yeah...that was a bad idea...it worked for Teddy and Mandy pfft Penny was not going to let the cat boss her around, if it had been a self defense thing, maybe it'd have been different, but no. it was definite aggression because she was protecting the babies and oh boy...if we hadn't of had someone on the other side of the door to pull Penny back or me to nudge the mother, Liz, away from the door there just would have been a battle to the death pretty much. it was scary and Liz was just on edge the entire time. we had another mother, Tigerlily, who really didn't care who was around her babies. dogs, cats, humans. didn't care lol Liz was a completely different story. Tigerlily didn't like dogs being near her though, our dog Teddy got too close to her and she cut him pretty close to his eye. but yeah. the only cat that Penny really got along with was Cranberry. I miss that little kitten so much. I wish I could have kept her and Penny. they were just the cutest thing ever. Penny loved Cranberry, she was like her little baby and Cranberry had an ear infection, but Penny kept it clean for her, it was pretty cute. without me Cranberry would have died, I loved that little scrap...and I'm sure without Penny she would have suffered worse from that ear infection, which now has fully recovered. but still. I miss her. I miss Penny too. I think if we had kept Cranberry Penny would have been fine until we eventually did get farm land. Cranberry was just different and gave Penny something to do, she had to take care of the little fuzz ball. I loved that little scrap too. even though she was only skin and bones when we first got her, Penny was just so gentle with her...idk why. she chased the older cats, but she actually played with Cranberry and acted like her guardian. so precious. anyway I will stop rambling about that lol but it was cute seeing this little 5 -6 week old kitten, that was nothing more than a walking skeleton. she weighed hardly a pound when my sister brought her home for me, being followed around and looked after by a 80 pound 6 month old puppy lol it was pretty adorable.

hopefully you do D: a lot of places are pet friendly nowadays, at least around here. so it's very likely that you will ^^

Haven so much animals around must be wounderfull and exhausting at the same time.
Keep it up.

yeah. my family are animal lovers lol my sister is actually planning to become a vet. she took part in the co-op program at the high school and she helped out at the animal shelter. then they gave her a working position and I decided to volunteer. we've helped them out by taking litters of cats or cats that are close to death, that just need around the clock attention. we've had a couple die, but that's what happens when you offer to take the ones that just may or may not make it. it's sad...but we do try. Cranberry, Liena, Kary and I forget the other kittens name...were lucky ones and those guys were the ones I took care of myself ^^ I also had one litter and their mother in my care, my other sister had 2 litters and a bunch of kittens and my other sister tried to foster a cat that my sister rescued from a house with the rest of the staff, who we ended up adopting because he's just so odd. he's not your typical cat lol my sister who rescued him just hates the darn thing xD he tore apart her homework once lol she wasn't amused.

it was good ^^ I loved having the cats around and taking care of them. it wasn't too bad. the most exhausting kitten to deal with was Cranberry lol I had to feed her 5 - 10 times a day. little amounts, of course. so that she could gain some weight, but once she was up to a good weight we gave her back to the shelter and then she was adopted. my family doesn't foster anymore. my mom can't handle it and idk, my little sister hasn't really shown much interest in helping out the shelter. now that both me and my other sister are gone away to school, they haven't had any. which is fine lol if the shelter really needs help they know they can call my family and my sister still at home would gladly help. at least I think...our last foster cat died and my dad was really upset about it. so it could be a long time before they foster again.

oh lol well hopefully you have plenty of time to think about it ^^
