I'm quite pleased to encounter a fantasy artist/author who actually knows what they're talking about. Most forget that sallets were even a thing (which annoys me to no end, sallets being my favorite type of Medieval/Renaissance helmet).

Is he called 'almann' as in alemanni?Β Does that mean he was from swabia, which was an area of the HRE?

Alternately, real knights would just wear sabatons (that is, armored foot guards), which this fellow seems to be conspicuously lacking (he also lacks couters on his elbows, although it's excusable in this case to show off hisΒ nifty poofy sleeves).

It's good picture
If this dude is a knight he should afford to buy some armor for his feet, since many sword manuals of the time mention tripping or breaking an opponents foot with a nice stomp kick. Which of course would leave an opening for his enemy when trying to get back up.
