Description Productively procrastinating right now.

asked for a colour tutorial, so I went over the basics. If there is anything you want more details on, I can see what I can do.

This is very helpful! Most other color tutorials confuse me even more, but this is the first one I've read that I actually understand and will really use. I like how you give practical specific tips, and not just abstract color theory info. Thanks!

I know what you mean. I don't understand many colour tutorials I've seen either. I've never been good with just hearing facts and not seeing how they are applied, but that seems to be how most tutorials are set up. I remember really getting a lot out of this thing though if you want to try watching it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJf4e5… He also did this thing about colours too but I haven't gotten around to looking at it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kQllL…

WAHH!! I love this! It's super useful... im so bad at letting myself go and use opposite colors to color a picture... it just looks wrong to me when i do it.. but u do it so well that it looks AMAZING! i really like that kitty <3

Mostly it's about finding the right balance when it comes to complementary What I like doing is keeping them low saturation and near the value of all the other colours (just by being a different colour, it pulls a lot of interest), or else just keeping the amount of that colour used to a minimum just where I want the eyes to focus on. Another thing that can help is by putting in a third colour that is between the complementary colours to basically have a sort of stretched out analogous colour scheme.

Very helpful! Even though I've read most of this before, i'm not sure I've seen anyone go through step by step on their thought process on choosing their palette It always came across that they chose their entire colour scheme before they started >_< So thanks for the tips (and confidence boost!)

Glad to hear that! Most of the first third/half was meant for more review than anything. That's why I didn't go into details or anything. I figured there were enough tutorials like that out there. I learn more though seeing the application of knowledge then just hearing facts, so I like doing some of that in my tutorials. But yeah, I never know what colours I'm going to be using until after I started. If that gives you confidence, then good. Trust your instincts. Just do what looks and feels right.
