This is a really good attempt for a first emote. You've managed to correctly implement all of the regular sizes and the shading looks pretty good. The smile works well and the face stands out enough from the base. I'm not completely sure that the |^ expression looks right on the emote though i guess it does create a unique expression. Personally i would alter it to a |- sort of face, but thats all just down to personal opinion.
