Description A Colorado sunset compliments the lightly snow-covered trees, the fresh powder on the ground, and what seemed to me to be an endless mountain range.

EDIT: After some useful comments, I've re-uploaded the file with a "not so sharp" version. Definately looks better!

ha really nice... you now got the 5D but i got a 400D (rebel xti is the same)
could you tell me what kind of polarizer is the best to use for landscape stuff? i mean you can buy so many different... with neutral, orange shine, one that polarizes blue light (for better water stuff)

I use a circular polarizer by Tiffen. But, I've heard REALLY great stuff about Singh-Ray's Blue-n-gold polarizer... however, it's a bit pricey. I would recommend just a normal polarizer made by either Tiffen, Hoya, or B+W. You can get some for much cheaper, but putting bad glass on the end of your lens will degrade the image quality, and sometimes create unnatural looking colors.

A circular polarizer should be on the top of your list for filters when it comes to landscape photography, so spend the most money on a CP and a good set of graduated neutral density filters.

Consider which lens you'll be using the most, and make sure the polarizer fits it. Don't bother with all the effects filters just yet. Buy the most important ones, master the use of them, then you can buy warming filters, etc.

thanks a lot! well iv seen thos B+W things, they cost about 50€ which is doable. now i am going to use it on the kitlens of the 400D just for now, till i get a better lens... (obviously who uses a tele for landscapes?) as far as i know, my uncle said there exist kind of rings which makes you connect any filter to any kind of lens... but i have not the slightest idea but i will ask info in the shop =]
thanks for your reply!

Hmmm... I don't know of any rings that allow for multiple filters to fit on any lens, I could be wrong though. If you are going to use a filter on a kit lens, then I wouldn't go all out and buy the most expensive filter you see. Wait until you get a really good lens to start investing money in filters. The lens is more important anyway.

yeah, just found someone that can lend me this filter for a few months, that way i really can see by myself. this summer i'm buying a new lens, probably wideview (or how you call that in english) for landscapes and so on .

Ok I think that this is a good image. The main issue I have here is that you oversharpened your image so bad it actually looses detail. As for composition. I like it here, and can't say much since I wasn't there. I really like the colors. The blue of the snow can be fixed, but I like it here.

BTW: for your web presentation you might look at my web presenter, you will get better results.

Thanks Tomas! I'll look into fixing that. Also, I already have your Web Presenter Action and that's actually what I used. But I'm pretty sure I know what I did wrong. I usually sharpen the photo and save it as a large tif, then I go back to the unsharpened photo and do the Web Presenter Action. But I think I might've done the action to the already sharpened photo. Anyway, thank you so much for the kind words, I appreciate it so much!

You are most welcome. And yes if you already sharpened the file that would do it

There we go! I've uploaded it again with a file that was sharpened only using your Web Presenter! It really is a great action. I use it for all my photos! Thanks again Tomas for everything. It is incredibly useful to be able to communicate with some of the world's best photographers on such simple terms! Thanks.

Thank you so much! The light blue of the trees seemed a bit fake to me, but it just finished snowing so it gave off a mystical blue hue that I thought was captured quite well in the photo. Thanks again.
