I'm not sure I agree with the statement that this is "original", have you ever seen the movie "nightmare before christmas"? Obviously not. Not that this is a problem, artists have drawn inspiration from each other through the ages, and made really cool stuff from doing so. Still. This is not original, it is awesomely made and very nice looking, but original it is not.

I'm sorry, I do not know if this comment is specifically directed at me or the artist. But I have seen Nightmare Before Christmas about a million times over and is one of my favorites. And I'm not wrong in saying that this character is original because there is no character in the movie that SPECIFICALLY looks like this. That makes it original. And from what I've learned from my 4 years of art school so far is that you need to draw inspiration from other artists (ie Tim Burton if that be the case) to better improve you're own work. It's all a learning process. I don't wish to offend you in any way by this, I'm just stating what I've learned and wanted to provide a helpful critique to a work I thought was really interesting.

We simply have different definitions of original.

The clerk's couture can be better looking and maintained than the clerk himself.
The employer of the clerk may dictate to the clerk the manner of dress the employer would have the clerk present himself in when conducting the employer's prescribed tasks. But, every other aspect that makes up the body of the clerk is the clerk's alone.
As is, it is spectacular and unique. I call this truly inspirational and real art.
I was astonished when I first saw this as a work in progress. Certainly, it is the artist's prerogative to determine when his work is complete. But, for what it's worth, I love it just the way it is.

Wowzer! That's possibly one of the nicest things that anyone has said about my work. Thank you very much. I think both critiques are valid and fair.

I do use an aluminium armature. Sculpey always surprises me with its strength, sometimes I'll drop a piece and find it completely intact.
