Description This is number 212, Ned Flanders, in OVEC's Three Day Event Cross Country Class ridden by Justin Wilks (USA)
***************************************************
One down and two to go in the Three Day Event! I was calm and cool when i woke up, then i look outside. It was a BLANKET of rain! Pouring! I sighed and called up Justin immediately to consult.
"Hey, what are our odds Justin? Can "he" handle the rain?"
Justin obviously knew what i was referring to and was very silent for a second, then spoke.
"Are you kidding? The stallions in the best shape of his life!", His voice calmed slightly. " Don't worry, ill take good care of him out there."

I hung up and smiled, moving over to the kitchen area of the room I was staying in and poured myself a small cup of tea, breathing in deeply. I wasn't really worried, but I guess hearing the words from Justin just gave me the extra little boost I needed to go to the barn and channel my confidence into the chestnut thoroughbred stallion.

At the huge barns that held the competitor's horses, I walked in exited even though it was not me who was riding. I first stopped at the number 23 stall to give a quick greeting to my mare, Ace, whom i WOULD be riding in a few days, near the end of the competition. After slipping her one of her favorite treats, Paddock Pleasers, complete with a peppermint in the middle, I moved on to the next stall over to see Justin already in Ned's stall, his eyes closed and the stallion's nose against his chest, his eyes also closed. They breathed in tune and seemed to be locked in a world they could only hear.

I smiled and walked back to Ace's stall, though sensing the shortness of time, I did not want to ruin the calming moment the two were sharing, the moment that could decide the fate of the upcoming class...
