Crosscountry entry for 's Rosendal Gold Events. Suuuuper last-minute, but at least it's done, right?

I tried a slightly different style with this and I usually do and made Ger a bit more realistic-looking. I love how it came out, but I'm waaaay too lazy to spend the time and effort doing it for every piece I create. Oh well, once in awhile's good enough, right? ^^

Ger's having an absolute BLAST in the rain, even with all the mud and icky weather. This boy has springs in his legs.

The rain came down in sheets and showed no signs of letting up anytime soon. Alex bit his lip as he tacked up is horse. He'd had a less-than-impressive ride on Van earlier; they'd done dismally in the warm up and even worse under the judges' watchful eyes. His nervousness was almost palpable now as he considered scratching from the crosscountry competition to save face.

Geronimo didn't pay any attention to his human's grumblings as he munched away at the hay in the corner of the stall. He knew what Alex's decision would be before the human did: the blonde should know by now that Ger was game for anything, he wouldn't let his rider scratch without a tantrum. He flicked his ears in annoyance turned to give Alex a warning nip as the girth was tightened, pinching him uncomfortably.

"Ouch!" Alex rubbed at his arm. His horse stared at him with those unnaturally green eyes and he made up his mind: they weren't going to let the rain win without a fucking fight.
