Description
Looking north across Baltimore Bay from the Sherkin Island Ferry at Baltimore.
The passage on the ferry to Sherkin Island brought us into contact with the first squall of rain driving in from the west, across the sound between Sherkin Island and Baltimore.
It was warm and sunny weather in the morning, with plenty of Meadow Brown and Small White Butterflies. Now the sunny weather has become obscured by clouds. Unsettled weather has prevailed since Tuesday the 27th of July, after hot sunny weather from Wednesday the 14th of July to Sunday the 25th of July caused by the Azores High. The first of two hot sunny spells in 2021. July had previously seen humid cloudy sunshine with increasingly heavy rainfall events.
At 4 pm we took the ferry over to Sherkin Island as the weather began to change with occasional showers batting in over the island from the west.
