Description

Looking west from Ireland's Eye as the ferry approached Ireland's Eye landing site near the Maretllo Tower. The passenger boat approached the Martello Tower on Ireland's Eye via the east and north coast of the island, passing the Thulla Seastack along the way. Near high tide with a fairly calm sea. A mild cool sunny day, with a breeze from the south becoming much stronger later.

As part of Heritage Week the Discovery Centre organised a boat trip to Ireland's Eye from Howth Harbour. The day involved a beach clean up with Clean Coasts and learning about the archaeology and geology of the island as well as the impact of climate change on coastal heritage from Cherish Staff.

Saturday is mild and sunny with showers passing over the Wicklow Hills to the south. Both Friday and Sunday saw heavy downpours of rain in the afternoon. August has seen very unsettled weather after a mild July of cloudy sunshine.
