Ombuds Man
Making him more Mega Man-like wasn't as big of a challenge as you might expect. Yeah, Sounder Man was a major point of reference, but there were also characters like Saturn in the back of my head. Converting him to sprite form, on the other hand, might be a pain because that shade of dark gray doesn't exist on the NES.

Brain Man
Yes, I gave him Brain Break glasses. There's an unused design where he was hunched over with this... lower Guts jaw that tapered to look like a beak... and that's where this redesign stemmed from. I wanted to keep the beak, but eventualy decided a breathing apparatus would make more sense. Making the brain mechanical was another logical progression-- you look at all the CWUs and Dark Man designs, and something like that becomes a... no-brainer, heheh. This is also the first time I used my tablet stylus for proper brushwork, to create the wiggly lines in his glass helmet.

Missile Man
Y'know, Crash Man's contest entry name was Missile Man, so I actually had a direct reference when copying the romaji handwriting. I'm proud with how the colors turned out on this one; there aren't a lot of oranges around. Actually redesigning him was a pain-- I tried my best to avoid making him look like a Napalm, Mars, or RNR Missile Man standin. I guess the caution stripes on the original turned out to be enough. Oh, and the "isosceles right up-arrow" seen in tons of later Mega Man designs can first be found on Bomb Man's arm, in one sketch, so I took the liberty of leaving it in.

Sky Man
I had to redo this one at first because the color-blocking wasn't working out and the linework didn't turn out well. All for the better, I think. His new pose is a nod to the drawing of Kaminari Goro-- a.k.a., Lightning Lord. I ditched the cloud torso to emphasize the Thor-ish elements of his design.

Etc. Man
I already drew this one in my own style, but being a secret boss, I took the liberty of... making his rendering secret, too.

EDIT: Realized I fucked up the title. It should be "MM42" instead of just 42.
