... and suddenly my mind wants to call him the hero Unova deserves, but not the one it needs. I'm not entirely sure why my brain wants to compare him to Batman of any flavor, though. I feel like it's just how that quote sounds more than any actual reference.
(I want to say this is made even worse by the fact Unova is based on New York, much as one of the major inspirations for Gotham is also New York)

Welp, given how this ultimately turned out (he still has Ellie), that's confirmed now - Ben's a crook! (or at least an anti-hero)... still, doesn't stop me from enjoying these comics any less. If characters in stories were all goodie-two-shoes and flawless, then there'd be no story in the first place. Keep going man

Well, no... I guess not a plan by more traditional senses. He probably thinks he can get away with a lot and still keep his beloved Kirlia and somehow get the Buneary. Admittedly, we know he gets away with both of them, or at least retrieves whichever one he doesn't keep past this exchange before when PT1 takes place, at the very least. I'm assuming it's going to be resolved relatively quickly, though; don't want to spend too much time with flashbacks, I would assume. Not that I mind them, just saying.

That makes perfect sense- most Kirlia still know Teleport from before they evolved, and we know she still knows Teleport at present-day as a Gardevoir. Would be trivial, I suspect, especially since this trainer seems to let Pokemon wander about outside of pokeballs like a ranch.

Like I said in my comment, I can't imagine he's serious, or if he technically is, he plans to get her back, possibly with her getting away from this trainer/breeder and back to him.
She's the same character we know and love from the rest of the comic, the same one who, according to revealed backstory, he did something that should be impossible to keep her by his side. But only for her. He can be sneaky, he can be stupid... but the way he's been portrayed, he will never let anything happen to that Kirlia/Gardevoir, ever.

Ben... I knew you were being a sneak. "Sneak!! *gollum, gollum*..." ... Our sweet Kirlia's expression seems to say this is all part of some preconceived plan; the being confused with the real customer for a moment thing was just convenient for getting 'in the door', as it were...
Considering what I know of Ben, at least currently, I can't see him being truly serious about that trade. I mean, he did the unbelievable for the sake of that Kirlia according to backstory revealed earlier. I could be proven wrong and shown how low he can stoop, but that's my current take.
Edit: If anything, even if a trade goes through, there's probably an escape plan, of sorts, in mind to get her back beside Ben. Again, just how I see things on my end. I can't see him permanently giving her up, EVER.
