I think so too especially because of the headcanon that the person had who requested this drawing, Sunset Shimmer isn't even evil, she just uses the Nightmare magic to get a little stronger in this fight

oh well an emperor is normally higher ranked than kings or queen and "chosen by god" so they are approved by the pope, since Equestria doesn't really have a pope (do they even have a real religion at all?) he can't be an emperor, right?

Well they always seem too refer Celestia as God Saying things like "Sweet Celestia", "Thank Celestia" and "As Celestia is my Witness...". And i have always seen theri Religion to be like the Greek faith with Several Gods and one king/Queen of the Gods, Celestia, Luna Cadance Twi, all Alicorns Seems to be gods compared to other "lesser" races. And Discord might be a acient God like Acient Egypt god or Krosos, The Changling Queen (how looked like a Changling alicorn) reminded of somekind of Corrupted fallen god.

no no it's actually very interesting. I had thoughts like that aswell, Celestia being like a god and everything.
And all through season 4 I have been wondering why Twilight isn't treated like Celestia with the alicorn=goddess thingy.
I have to admit you have a point there, so does that make Sombra a "normal" unicorn trying to become a god? did he give himself the title of a king? I mean, he did rule over the crystal empire...... but that was liks tyranny and stuff like that, reminds of of ancient agypt rulers with slavery and everything, and afterall: Agypt rulers thought of themself to be chosen by the gods, or to be their children so he might have those narcistic values, too and he just TRIES to become as powerful as the princesses

I thought the same of Sombra and Yea there is some intresting fan-made backstories to Sombra ( "A Somber meeting" and "Masters and Students" ) giving some story too him implying a other powers guided him to become powerfull and corrupted showing Sombra as a lover of knowledge who only wanted to learn magic untill he got comssumed and blinded with his wish to learn more.
