This is a birthday card I made for my friend ~Dinogomonni . She likes the movie Labyrinth a lot and in the movie the Gobling King Jareth can turn himself into a barn owl, so I thought she might like this.
I started out by drawing the owl on paper, which I used as a pattern to cut all the different pieces out of coloured paperboard and some old wallpaper samples and glued them on a white paperboard.
It took me a very long time to make this, and afterwards my hands were all covered in glue.

Ach! That's my favorite movie too. Dark Crystal that i mentioned in the other comment is by same producers. It was made before Labyrinth or to say Labyrinth was made after it because they wanted do something similar with humans (because Dark Crystal is made by dolls). If you have not seen yet, I recommend it!

Thanks! Unfortunately the scan doesn't show all the pearly and silvery shine that some of the papers had, which in my opinion made it look even better, but I'm happy with it even without all the shine.

oh wow this is so beautiful! I've dabbled in paper sculpture and paper cutting, so I appreciate how difficult small details are. I hope your friend appreciates it too!
