Not sure of the category, since this is manga-influenced.

This was originally a school project. We had to make a christmas card for some company, either a real one or a made-up one.

I got an idea of making a card for one of the Finnish manga publishing companies.

I tried to combine elements from both Japanese and Finnish culture. The right side of the drawing was a more Finnish side, since it would be the Finnish front cover when the card is folded. The left side more Japanese, because as you may know, Japanese books and most likely also folded cards have their front cover where a Western back cover would be.

However, I didn't want the sides to be notably different. I wanted the whole picture to be a kind of combintion of the two cultures. The drawing style was influenced by manga, ukiyo-e and art nouveau/jugend (which was actually also heavily inspired by ukiyo-e), but it's still pretty much my own drawing style, I didn't try to copy any existing style in it.

The woman character could be some kind of an goddess or a spirit of nature, or even "Suomi-neito" which is a character that represents Finland in some traditional Finnish art.

And, of course, the nine-tailed fox is a Japanese mythical creature.
