I hate to tell you, but don't get your hopes up. While there are a scant handful of less horrific takes on the setting, the universe of Warhammer 40,000's default setting is as grim and dark as you can possibly get. Humanity is shackled by a vast and inefficient bureaucracy; hate of the alien and the mutant is a virtue; tens of millions die every single day on battlefields across the universe; the great Imperium of Mankind is so despotic and totalitarian it makes the offspring of Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia look positively benign; technology is forgotten and mistrusted even by the priests who work and maintain it, working by rote learning and ancient ritual rather than any understanding; and just going FTL to get from one planet to another involves literally taking a shortcut through ultra-hell.
Personally, I like Night's take on the setting much better. In the actual canon, the warrior-nun on the left would be trying to set the space-elf on the right on fire, while the space-elf wears a techno-magical mask made of bone that allows her to scream so loudly and at such a pitch that it bursts capillaries in human's brain.
Night's version seems much more enjoyable :3 Hehe, so big and soft and strong~

Well I would count Alparius and Omegon out of the running. Mortarian and Magnus may be worried if the tech is used again.

Well, one of the final trials for a Space Wolf aspirant is the Gate of Morkai, which transports their soul to another dimension where they are tempted to serve a God of Chaos. If they resist the temptation, they get to be a Space Wolf, and if not, they die.
Or, as Bruva Alfabusa puts it, a squid screams at them, and they only get to drink from the Cup of Wulfen if they don't get a boner.
Pretty sure the technology or magic or whatever behind the gate is heretical in nature, but it is all in the service of the Emperor, so it's given a pass not because it is fine but because the Imperium is full of self-righteous hypcrites. The same applies to this, probably.

I can say nothing to rebate that, is full of characters that talk about purity and self righteousness and the imperial truth but is all self serving or full of compromises in the name of faith or survival, well for the later I can not call them hypocrites at least.
