Description So, I play a bit of Magic the Gathering and I've wanted to do a customized angel token for a few months, but didn't feel up to tackling it until now. I'm not used to painting without lines and I want to imitate the realistic style of the cards as closely as I can, so this is probably going to take a while. I'd appreciate any constructive criticism, since I need all the help I can get!

I definitely like how the hair and armor look with the adapted style. The skin parts (and perhaps some of the larger armor bits) seem like maybe they could do with either a shadow or highlight to break up some of the monotony of the color (the shadow around the hairline does a great job of this). Of course, I don't know if that'd get too far away from the style you're shooting for or not. :/ For a first attempt, this really is great. I think the hair and hand are the best parts in terms of highlights and shadows. (Also, I have a friend who plays white token decks... such a fun concept with neat synergies.)

Sorry for the late reply, and thank you for the advice! You're right, the armour could definitely do with some stronger highlights and more defined shadows, it needs to look a bit more reflective. I'll play around with the skin highlights too, and see what happens. I'm making this up as I go so I'm not aiming for any particular style - as long as it could pass for a magic card in poor light I'll be happy  . I understand why your friend likes them, I've got an old white token deck kicking around somewhere and it's certainly fun

No need to apologize; I understand life happens. ^_^ No worries. Glad to give some input! I definitely think it's a passable token card as it is, to be honest. If anything, maybe I suggested too much if you plan on printing a bunch of these off and don't want to waste the ink on extra details. As I said, it's still really good as it is. Haha, and yeah, white token decks are fun from what I've seen... especially since I run a big green deck. XD "A leviathan from the jungle emerges! Oh, your conscript in his pajamas blocks all the damage." (Thank goodness for trample cards...)

It's ok, I think I'd like to put in as much detail as possible even if some of it is lost - the magic card artists on DA certainly don't skimp on their work, so neither will I. I've put it on hold for now as I've got a few Christmas card sketches and gift arts to do, but this will get done eventually. Trample is a problem for that deck, if removal isn't handy or effective (green loves hexproof too, as I recall  ). Fun indeed!

Oh cool! Hope the Christmas cards and gifts go well! As an asside, it's nice seeing an angel that isn't blonde. Nothing wrong with blonde hair or angels; it's just awesome seeing a brunette one for once. Haha, and yes, hexproof is amazing. >:3 I will say though, it's not as bad as the blue decks that say, "you aren't allowed to play. Now let me play a different game with these cards and win."
