Description Thought I'd do something light, cute and simple after all the darker stuff I've been doing lately. I was also missing my pencils, and wanted to get some practice in. This one will probably be part of the christmas decorations this year

Thanks! I always enjoy doing the expressions, it's fun to see what mood they can create in a picture.

They are sweet, and very practical - best thing to do in all that cold I expect.

Aww, this is adorable!Β  :3Β  Love the subtle color added to the fur and snow.Β  Just like in real life, neither are purely white; the color changes depending on how the sun catches it, and is a nice detail to pick up on.Β  Really helps the two to stand out yet appear similar (again, much like in real life).Β  The use of darker edges to outline the topography of the snow is alsoΒ a nice touch... keeps the scene smooth and soft as you'd expect from snow.Β  Lovely job as always!Β  Also, really like the cub with its eyes closed.Β  Looks very cuddly and cute with its cheeks all flabbed out like that.Β

Thanks very much! Those colours were interesting, I knew that snow was reflective but I had no idea so much blue was thrown into the shadows until I had a proper look at some photos. The more you know O.O. I must confess that I did the snow with edges rather than lines because I was feeling lazy. I felt that I'd save time by not inking the lineart and it was an easy way of distinguishing the polar bear from the background. But cutting corners is not always a bad thing, it seems That cub is my favourite too, with it's 'mummy is so soft and warm' look. Β

Haha! Well, you'd have fooled me. For cutting corners, it turned out really nice. And yes, the cub's face is probably the most adorable face I've seen. XD I remember taking long walks with my sisters after a heavy snow and observing how the colors change in sunlight and shadow. It really is interesting how snow is never truly completely white. My guess is light refraction through all those ice crystals has something to so with it.
