Description "Picture the whole storm rotating above you,
Not just what you can see either.
This storm goes 12 miles up into the atmosphere.
It doesn't care what's below.
You're just a speck under one of the most powerful forces of nature,
And all you can do is stand there and marvel at it's beauty,
And respect its power." -  Noah R. Junot

This was probably one of my favorite chases, back on May 8th. This storm put down a brief tornado, but the real show was when the storm became elevated and the winds began to sculpt the mesocyclone in an amazing, almost stationary, mother-ship structure. We sat in this field, just watching this beast churn up the atmosphere before the storm became outflow-dominant and changed to a more linear structure.

Edit 2018: I changed a few things to make it a little lighter and bring out the color just a bit more.

Woah! I really like this one. I love that inner glow that makes you feel like the cloud is holding back all of its power, building up energy until it grows so full that it bursts....

Thank you! It is pretty neat how they look like that. I really did like the lighting in this picture. Believe it or not, this storm was weakening.

Wow! I can't imagine what it must have looked like at the height of the storm!

It was amazing! The storm was moving only about 8 knots (9mph). So It was a very relaxing and awe-inspiring storm chase.

That sounds incredible!  Do you storm chase with a group of people or do you usually go it alone?

I usually go alone at home, but out west I'm usually with someone else. I prefer chasing alone, it just gives more time to bask in the power. And there's not arguing over target areas and stuff.

Well, while I was out west doing my great plains chase this year, my chase partner wouldn't listen to me, and we ended up missing several tornadoes.... So Next year I'll probably be going alone XD

Thank you very much! This was really just an amazing day. If you ever get the chance, come to the US for the month of May. You won't be dissapointed!

Reminds me of May 3rd, 1999. Best tornado in my opinion.
