Personality, Biography, and History
Personality
Quiet: There are those who speak and those who listen. Caeli is one of the latter, preferring to stay out of the way of others and eavesdrop. A favorite pastime of hers is to sneak into dark corners to see how long she can go unnoticed. Caeli is a 'get down to business' kind of cat, always ready to work and eager to please. As such she doesn't talk much unless she knows a cat well, though when she has downtime she will strike up conversations with others.
Kind: She may eavesdrop, but she will never turn what she hears on another cat unless they're asking for it. The moment someone needs help, whether it is cleaning or just a chance to vent, she will be at their side.
Submissive: Caeli still has much to learn from her fellow empire cats and she knows it. This has lead to a tendency for her to quietly follow older gladiators, and a nervousness around those whom she considers higher-rank. She can't stand the idea of failing someone.
Loyal: Caeli has respect for those who have earned their positions, and will readily follow orders. Her time with Faith has helped her gain confidence, and she is losing her nervousness around higher ranking cats. She still has a hard time accepting it when she can't fulfill a mission or meet someone's expectations.
Protective: A small or injured cat in need is sure to catch Caeli's attention, and she will do anything in her power to help them. Now that she is an apprentice, she is sure to use her skills to help her empire-mates.
Curious: Caeli isn't a cat to bounce around and make mischief, she would rather learn. Many times she can be found following an odd scent or sound, or watching the older cats spar. There is a lot out there that she doesn't know, and she is ready to figure it out. She loves hearing stories about new places and creatures, and may speak up to ask about them.
Clever: A natural observer, it doesn't usually take long for Caeli to figure something out. She particularly enjoys watching others spar, so she can take note of their techniques and patterns.
Persistent: What she starts, Caeli will almost always finish. When she finds a particularly tricky question, she will spend days playing with different answers until she finds one that works. If given a task by another, she will apply the same persistence to ensure the job is done and done right.
Biography
Caeli's mother was a pampered pumapard that grew up in the lap of luxury, owned by a noble family. When bad decisions about spending eventually threw the family into poverty, she was sent off to the colosseum to fight. It was there that she met Caeli's father, a cougar who used his cunning to outwit opponents in the stadium. Caeli and her siblings were born in the cages beneath the colosseum and hidden from the humans. As the cubs got bigger, it became more difficult for their mother to keep them a secret, and they were eventually found and separated from their parents to begin training. While away from her family, Caeli learned about the bloody battles in the colosseum, and heard stories of cats who had escaped and formed free colonies away from humans. When she turned 3 months old, Caeli was sold to a merchant and loaded onto a boat headed for an amphitheatre farther north. Poor weather turned to her favor, and she managed to escape into a storm while the humans tried to tie down loose cargo. Soaked but alive, she wandered into ice empire territory where she was found by a patrol of the free cats she had heard about.
A few months living in ice empire taught Caeli much about strength, survival, and working with others. She came to understand the importance of working for the good of her empire-mates, and the importance of pulling her own weight in such a place. It was a moment of pride for her when she was assigned a mentor, graduating from the nursery to the (sometimes) more mature apprentice den. Her training as an apprentice did her much good, helping her build confidence as she grew. She grew very fond of her mentor, Faith, and made a few friends amongst her companions in the apprentice den.
At a year old, nine months of which she had lived as an empire cat, Caeli completed the final trial for apprentices. Though she was successful, she was still too young to be promoted to gladiator, a distinction which caused her some confusion and uncertainty. This time of confusion gave her reason to reflect on what she has accomplished, gained, and left behind as she has grown. She knew a fight with the Bounty Hunters was coming and wished she could help in some way. The young cougar had no idea that the battle would come much closer to home than anyone had planned.
Many were lost in the great Battle of Massilia. Among them was Caeli's mentor, Faith. During the fight she had been assigned to watch over the cubs in a hidden den, and the cougar frequently wondered after if she might have done something to save the other cat. For months she adjusted to life as a gladiator in the changed empire (Ceres stepped down and was replaced by her silver). Finally a chance to strike back opened: a small group was going into the city to rescue captured felines. Caeli eagerly joined. In the city, she found her mentor alive, and brought the lynx back home. The older feline was different though. She had been missing her family from before life as an empire cat, and so Faith left the empire again, for good this time. Caeli at least had the comfort of knowing her mentor was alive and free.
Time traveled quickly for Caeli after that. She hunted, protected, and fought for her empire. She was assigned her first apprentices, a young cheetah named Ray and a tiger named Crispin, and saw them to graduation. She saw her cub-hood friend, Pluto, rise to the position of Ice Silver. Everything was quiet for many moons. Then she met her third apprentice, a young cougar named Colleen. A few months into her training, the young cat disappeared. Caeli spent whatever time she could searching for any sign of the missing apprentice. She was so focused on her search that she missed the warning signs of mother nature. She'd always loved the snow, but she was caught off guard when it slipped away beneath her paws, tossing her into open air.

Ice Empire
/ Ceres
"My leader, the head of Ice Empire. I haven't spoken with her, but so far she seems to be a good leader. She is very strong...I hope to be capable like her one day."
/ Pluto
"The first cub I've met here in the empires. She seems nice, I hope we become friends."
Edit: / "I like Pluto, but some of her ideas seem...I don't know, they're not ones the older cats would approve of...
Is it okay that I think they're fun?"
Edit2: / "We've certainly come a long ways from sneaking out of camp to tag-team a rabbit, huh? We're both practically gladiators...I'm glad we're friends."
/ Faith
"My mentor... I have a lot still to learn from her, and haven't really gotten to know her yet. I know she had another apprentice before me who was re-assigned, so I hope I don't disappoint her!"
Edit: / "Faith is a great mentor, almost like a second mother to me. Sometimes her old injuries catch up with her, but that just gives me more reason to work hard for her. If she ever needs anything, all she has to do is ask. I just hope I make her proud."
/ "She...she didn't come back...I should have gone with her, then maybe I could have saved her. Faith, I'm so sorry..."
/ Jinan
"Wow, so strong! She seems a little grumpy, but I think she cares about others more than she lets on. Pluto is lucky to have her as a mentor."
Edit: / "Jinan scared me a few months back, but I know she didn't mean it. She went to train in Fire soon after, and I know she'll do great."
/ Rin
"Rin seems pretty cool. He tried to show me how to climb, but I think I'm still too little."
/ Theodora
"She seems like a really nice cat. Hopefully we'll both grow into our duties in the empires!"
/ Udi
"Umm...I don't know about Udi. He seems like a nice gladiator, but..."
Edit: / "Udi may be a little flirty, but he means well. He's a nice guy."
/ Glacius
"Glacius seems like a cool guy. I hope he's glad that he came on the patrol."
/ Neve
"It was a little scary for both of us, but I helped Neve start swimming! He's a cool cub."
Edit: / "Neve...I can't believe he was captured...I was supposed to be protecting the cubs, and I just sat in that cave while he was taken..."
Lightning Empire
/ Thoth
"I met Thoth at my second gathering. He said he was from Egypt! He was really nice, I hope I see him again sometime. Without crossing our borders, of course.
Outside The Empires
/ Parents
"I do miss Mom and Dad, maybe someday I'll be able to free them too. I wonder if they miss me?"
/ Siblings
"I had a brother and a sister when I was in the cages. I don't know what happened to them though, they weren't on the boat that I was. Are they still in Massilia? I hope they're safe, wherever they are..."
/ Other empires
"There are so many other cats living out here, I don't think all of them were even at the gathering! Why do we all keep such strict borders if we're all on the same side? I suppose it is so we don't have to compete for resources?"
/ Bounty Hunters
"I remember the humans' pets who roamed Massilia freely. I don't understand how they can't see the injustice being done to them and other cats, how they can willingly enter the pits. If I ever meet one, I will not hesitate to use what I have learned against them."
