-- ABOUT THE DEVIATION --
I got the idea for this emoticon the other day in Biology class believe it or not. Our teacher was drawing on the board what happened when the immune system was activated. And the way she drew it, it looked almost like emoticons! So I went from there. If you don't know much about the immune system you might not understand some of what is depicted, so I would suggest reading below. :3

I've been working on this for hours and hours. At least 12 hours was put into making this. Three of which was just redoing certain parts. Originally, the Th cell (the silver one with the police light) just went up to the macrophage (the giant purple thing) and waved it's arms about. But I wasn't content with the way I animated that so I changed it. Also, the explosion was different originally--I had just copypasta-d the explosion from `bad-blood s tutorial. But it's now completely hand pixeled.

So enjoy! Critiques, comments, and favorites are greatly appreciated!
-- IN DEPTH EXPLANATION --
Okay so in case you are mentally ill, the orange emote in the beginning is a virus . It is exceptionally pleased because it now gets to infect someone with it's disease. D:

But then, the purple emote, which is a macrophage, crosses it's path. It's the job of the macrophage, a white blood cell, as part of non-specific immunity to sort of "eat" any pathogens. The virus is a pathogen. Each virus differs from each other due to specific markers called antigens. For simplicities sake, the antigens on my virus are those little balls coming off of it's body. Now when the macrophage devours the virus it displays some of the virus' antigens. Hence why it looks like it "grows" those orange things.

Then comes along a Th cell, or helper cell (which is the silvery emoticon with the police hat). Each Th cell is different and is made to recognize different antigens. So obviously this Th cell recognizes the antigens and sets off an alarm. This brings the red emote, or the Tc cell (killer cell) which is also specialized to recognize that particular antigen. Technically speaking, I'm not sure if it would destroy the macrophage or not, seeing as it's not really infected but I decided it would make for a better ending anyways. >3

And there is quite a bit I left out as it would be much too difficult to animate. For example, when the Th cell recognizes the antigen it actually clones itself which releases a chemical called lymphokine (I believe...). This brings B cells and T cells to the site of the infection. They each have specialized jobs but seeing as that doesn't have to do with the emote I won't waste my time explaining them.

But in effect after this occurs, the Tc cells go around and kill all the other viruses. Because, when you get an infection there isn't just one virus that attacks you. There are thousands.

So I hope you learned something today about our extremely specialized immune system. Unless of course you already knew all this and more, and can correct me if I made a mistake. ;D

Wow thank you so much for the well thought out critique. It means a lot coming from such an established emoticonist as yourself. <3

I've noticed there are exceptionally large amounts of glomp and other such emotes so I kind of wanted to be a bit different. XD

As for the speed, I have to agree with you there! I'll have to try and work on getting the speed at a more reasonable and continuous speed for any upcoming emotes.

You're welcome!

I've made a mistake though, i wrote lover, and i meant lower, but again, it should be lower frame delay, which is opposite of frame rate. I don't make any sense right now, but what i meant is changing delay of a frame to lower value. If you use Photoshop, ImageReady or Fireworks, you can set it to 0.06-0.08, that will make smoother and faster animation. Experiment, on some parts you do need bigger speed, on some you don't.

Impact

Where do I start the obvious amount of time and effort put into this piece is substantial. The indepth and accurate portrayal of a virus infecting a cell is done magnificantly with cute emotes.
The only problem I have with this emote is that some of the walk towards the end, in my opinion, could have a greater impact and not just look like there was not effort put into them.
I like the expressions from the virue and giant purple cell. But on the whole good job for what it is. Hope you do well with biology in the future.

Thank you very much dude!

I agree with you, the walk at the end could be a lot better. I think I was just so darn tired of the emote by that point I just sort of gave up.

It is my theory that all viruses evolved from true life forms. They are ex-truded DNA, the original species' virus form, designed to communicate, to influence the environoment. In some cases, the origin species is extinct, the virus remains. Whether the origin species can be identified is a question: the virus may be mutated past recognition.

The Braconid wasp puts its virus-form on its eggs and infects the prey caterpillar, weakening its immune system so the egg can hatch and the parasitoid begins to feed. (I say parasitOID as it's an "economic predator" feeding on one individual, and taking care NOT to kill it before it's mature.). It does prevent it from metamorphing ,resulting in 1-2 extra larval molts, and thus, a giant, dies from system imbalance. By then, they have emerged and formed cocoons, in some species on the caterpillar's body.

Eggs that have been washed will hatch, but the caterpillar will destroy them.

You know, I think this is one of the best emotes ever done. Seriously. It made me realize the potentials that emote-making has on educating people on various subjects. While I was watching the animation, I found myself imagining the dozens of concepts that could be explained through emotes. This area has so much space for digging...

This emote is absolutly adorable and brilliant! Taking scinece and creating such an adorable little animation is amazing! I remember learning about this in 9th grade^^ You animated and illustrated the facts beautifully! My favorite part has got to be when the helper cell is setting off his alarm. REally cute:3 And the explosion! XD

I didn't know this as in depth as you show here (my teacher just tought us about viruses not completly in depth. Or I just forgot lol ) Great job as always^^ I even learned something new todayXD

(Whoa! That's a lot of frames! O.O I see why it took you awhile! 12 hours...You really have a lot of patience with these)
