If your religion is based on "convert or die" It might be time to switch. And I have to say quit calling religion the worst thing ever, I understand your opinion (this is the internet) but don't be mean about it. Evey religion has its dark times. Ex. The crusades, kinda counterproductive, when in the bible says not to murder. If you have issues don't say it's because of my religion, cut the bull crap.

Sometimes people support different types of cause's because they think the holocaust/slavery/rape was a great thing. Like Neo-Nazi's for example.
Good stamp, gets out the message and makes you think more about what you support.

And yet, you must make excuses for all of those things if you stand for biblical values.

This. As someone who Hispanic and does have a little bit African blood in them. It's extremely offensive to compare abortion to slavery, and it screams of white privilege and ignorance. Some fuckwit pro-life blog on tumblr keeps doing that, and they get all defensive and passive aggressive when people call them out for it. I was so pissed that they keep on doing that shit, I flamed the ignorant little racists, and they just keep doing that shit. Worse thing, is I was nice at first, but they ignored me when I was polite.

While I am not pro-life in the slightest, this comment is very offensive. I hope you realize that black people were not the only slaves, in fact there were probably more white slaves than black slaves. For somebody who is calling somebody racist, you talk a lot about white privilege, which seems pretty damn racist to me.

psyco-chick28 In reply to Kelsey-Kat [2012-04-14 01:19:58 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, but not in the US and not in recent history. When pro-lifers refer to slavery they refer to Africans, who were brought to the Americas. Slavery of Africans is still in recent memory, and it's effects are still felt in society, despite it being abolished only 150 years. So I don't know what slavery in Rome, or the Germanic or Celtic tribes has to do with anything right now.
Umm I think you should read up on white privilege before saying it's racist. [link] It's not, it's intended to re-frame the inequities between minorities/POC and whites.

The only surviving slavery I see is sex slavery/human trafficking.
I hate racism in the most. If I saw anyone inciting racism, I'd punch them as hard as I could. I have a sister who's marriage is interracial; I couldn't be happier for her, but the issue in today's society is sex slavery. it is creating a bigger impact every day.
When I hear slavery, I think sex slavery now. Not out of any deranged racist thinking, but from view of today's growing problems.

If you don't believe there were white slaves in America or in recent history, you need to do your research. In fact, over 6 million whites were murdered after being enslaved very recently. Currently, sex slavery is very prevalent in many countries including America.
I'm sorry, but basing whether there are inequities between people due to color of skin is racist. If you want to go by history or culture, that's fine, but to lump all white people and all black people together is absurd and disgusting.

That still doesn't compare to the long term systematic economic exploitation, of a whole race, who's effects are still felt today. The one who makes the claim, provides the source and citation. Saying there's inequity due to skin color, isn't racist, it's fact. Racism is systematic oppression of people due to their race, saying racism still exists doesn't make it racist, any saying it doesn't exists, doesn't make it go away.

Omg wow, That kelsey bitch tho... You were so patient with her. I would've bitched her out immediately XD I have no patience for people who victimize themselves when ACTUAL minorities mention the shit they have to go thro. (and btw, just some facts for idiots like her, that I'm sure you know, Europeans enslaving other Europeans in the ancient world isn't the same as racism against minorities that goes far beyond slavery in the modern/pre-industrial world)Β
:/ *siiiiiigh*
Anyways, I'm Hispanic too - that's why I first noticed your comment but then I had to read the idiocy that this kelsey kept spewing.

Uggh yeah, white people have to fucking butt into everything and make it about themselves. Like stop, the world doesn't revolve around you, we non-whites allowed to vent and call out racism/xenophobia, and butting in and derailing is the last thing anyone should do. I was really, really close to pulling out a sassy "white opinions" gif, because everything she said is the epitome of white opinions.

Ya. I saw on many many civil rights and environmentalism stamps that this kelsey kept commenting stupidly on them as well...
omg I want to see that gif XD
I actually feel very compelled to write about this (indirectly through fiction novels, but directly) by writing rants in the form of persuasive essays. (If I can edit it and make it pretty, I might be able to make it so I just don't go bat-shit bitch-mode and scare reasonable people away lol) For me, my realization of racism was more passive, because my parents look/are mostly white. But when I (or my twin sister) even said anything about being Hispanic, that's when then prejudice and idiocy came out. Even with close "friends" in one case... Anyways, I wonder if you'ld be interested in those?Β
(Also, I love your icon XD My fav is Pinkie Pie tho XD)

I don't deny racism, I'm simply saying that you are being racist because you deny that more groups than just black people were oppressed. You really don't think the fucking holocaust compares? You don't think anti-semitism isn't still around and kicking? You don't think Jews still feel the effects of the oppression that has been waged upon them for millennia? Sorry, it isn't about skin color, its about history and family's past.

psyco-chick28 In reply to Kelsey-Kat [2012-04-15 22:06:30 +0000 UTC]
No, did you even read any of what I wrote? Not mentioning one group, when talking about another, isn't trivializing them.
Just because I talked about one group I'm familiar with doesn't mean racism was implied because I excluded other groups. That's like saying the NAACP, or the civil right movement are racist because they only focuses on the rights of blacks. Focusing on one aspect of the issue, or one particular races struggle doesn't make it racist.
You're trying way to hard, to read between the lines and find something offensive.
π: 0 β©: 1
Kelsey-Kat In reply to psyco-chick28 [2012-04-15 22:12:25 +0000 UTC]
No, you mentioned the group. You said specifically 'white privilege'. Sorry, but a majority of people effected by the holocaust were white. So were most serfs [re:slaves].
Unless you're familiar with all parts of the 'white community', don't act like you are.
And yes, I don't believe we should have separate groups fighting for rights for each kind of person, I think we should have an organization that fights for rights for everybody equally.

Umm did you even read the essay? White is just used because they're the dominant culture in the US, but the same privilege applies to any dominant culture around the world.

So-Dae In reply to psyco-chick28 [2012-06-27 08:16:45 +0000 UTC]
You should have been more specific. There'll always be a justification to disregard what you were trying to convey otherwise. White is too roomy though it is accurate in relation to the broad and convenient usage of the inaccurate western terms 'white & black' to refer to groups of people. Would have been better to go into who, what, when, where and why.
π: 0 β©: 0
Kelsey-Kat In reply to psyco-chick28 [2012-04-16 14:51:42 +0000 UTC]
Except that they aren't. First of all, they are not a culture, white people come from ALL OVER THE WORLD! That's like grouping together all people with black skin, all people with tan skin, or all people with asian skin. African culture =/= Jamaican culture. Indian culture =/= Mexican culture. Chinese culture =/= Japanese culture.
Even so, just because there are MORE whites than other cultures, does not make us 'dominant'. If that was so, we could say that brown eyed people were the dominant culture or right handed people were the dominant culture or women were the dominant culture. Its asinine. And even then, being dominant does NOT mean we have more privilege. We may not all have equal rights, but whites and blacks sure do. If anything, blacks are getting more in terms of many things. They are more likely to get higher welfare, higher financial aid, higher college acceptance, etc for the SOLE reason that they have black skin. If you want to be fighting for equal rights here, why not stop beating a horse thats been dead for decades, and try fighting for someone else's rights, like LGBT or animals.

Not that I disagree with you, just pointing out that error.

I don't really see what slavery and the holocaust have to do with this.. But I was just reading down the page and saw this;
"A remedy which is almost always successful in small boys is circumcision⦠. The operation should be performed by a surgeon without administering an anaesthetic, as the brief pain attending the operation will have a salutary effect upon the mind, especially if it be connected with the idea of punishment" ~ Dr. John Harvey Kellogg
I don't see what's up with all this shit that seems to have constantly been against masturbation throughout a very long time in the US.
Although I just found the quote from the stamp.
What political party is this being said by? It's not that Rick Santorum bloke or whatever is it?

Forgot to add - The circumcision thing - I'd say that the guy was likely on the conservative side, as he wanted to get rid of masturbation, which isn't something you'd see from someone like Obama or Clinton. Least of all Clinton, I'd think, lol!

Nekromanda In reply to StrawberryFaggotism [2012-04-13 23:00:31 +0000 UTC]
I think that the quote you're referring to was from the post the blogger made on how Dr. John Harvey Kellogg wanted to rid the US of masturbation, by doing so with using circumcision without anesthetic to sort of make the kid feel like anything to do with his penis is punishment.
As for slavery/holocaust/etc, it was from a different post referring to anti-choice people needing to use rape, slavery, the holocaust, etc, just to make their points. (ie, "abortions are like the holocaust!" and other such ridiculous arguments.)

The politicians are so far disconnected from the actual people of the country that it's like they're in their own little world and we're just tagging along for the ride. Unless people start standing up and defending themselves politically, the republican party is going to completely destroy all of the human rights that people have worked so hard to establish over the past century.

They pretty much are. I don't know who exactly is in each party but I've heard some of the things they've come out with and it's even worse than the lib dems over here.
I think if they do get it people are, only then, going to try and stand up for themselves.
