Congrats on the DD! And just to add, that critique was fair but I have to say I do love the lack of shading personally.. so either way I think the impact would have been just as equally great! Your painting has just gotten better and better since I started watching you. I love your style, keep it up! Always beautiful!

you know, i actually tried it with the shading and it took away from the mood i wanted. it became a little to busy and the linework became so lost. i like the flats better too

Honestly, my favorite thing about this piece is the way you drew the little branches. While the piece as a whole is lovely, there is just something about the way you drew those branches.

I love that oriental kind of feel that you get with the simplistic patterns (swirls and such) that appear in this piece. The bright vivid red colour you used really caught my eye and I really like how the character is very sophisticated.

THEY HAVE IMPACT AND CREATE A REAL POSITIVE MOOD. A MIXTURE OF THSES STRONG COLOURS WITH MUTED TONES COULD ALSO WORK REALLY WELL.
