This really reminds me of a book I read as a kid. Varjak Paw, a housecat who gets in a fight with the leader of a gang of street cats.

I've been my cats personal medical for some fairly brutal injuries akin of this exact wound. Non toxic superglue did the trick. It's okay, he was fine from it. Superglue was actually created in the 60's as a battlefield wound sealer.
