Description For those unfamiliar with this, it's my recent 3D project that stems from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the Magical Flying Car. This is Vulg-Air the Royal Zeppelin to Baron Von Bomburst of Vulgaria.

Vulg-Air was an actual flying blimp made specially for United Artist's movie adaptation of Ian Fleming's novel. It was powered by a VolksWagon Beetle engine that drove a pair of propellers on chains, and was a handful to fly for the pilot, as the under-sized tail lacked enough surface area to provide decent directional control at slow speeds, especially during landings, but from what I've read from various sources, Vulg-Air was a decent ship, else I don't think she would have been used at all in filming. If she handled horribly, the effects team would have used a model instead... Still she was challenging to fly, and that along with the costs to keep a small airship like Vulg-Air flight worthy... despite the age of said ship.. This might go a ways to explaining why I have not come across any articles of where Vulg-Air is now. Chitty remains a museum piece in pristine form.. Just wish I could say the same for the Baron's Blimp.

Anyhow...

I've come to realize that after making the coat of arms for the balloon that the original color scheme which I gave my work in progress was incorrect. I blame color inaccuracies of the youtube clips.... Instead of a maroon like colors for the zeppelin, it should have been as you see it now, a rich Royal Purple. Oh and speaking of coat of arms, you'd forgive me for using My Little Pony as my source materials for making Vulg-Air's emblem? I do so love my ponies, so I let that bit of fandom creep in in the form of Gilda Gryphon because I couldn't settle on any particular design for the coat of arms that I thought looked adorable, so I used Gilda in silhouette form.

Now that Vulg-Air is completed, all I have to do now is find a decent model of Neuschwanstein Castle for the scene diorama, and make Grandpa Potts out-house / Adventure Cottage hung on a hook below the Zeppelin, and then place them both over Neuschwanstein Castle to complete the 3D movie tribute scene.

Chitty??? I am NOT skilled enough to make that iconic car... so please don't ask about her... I would so love to make Miss Banger chasing after the Zeppelin, but I don't know where to begin... It's hard enough to make that antique car alone, but add to it all of the magical special effects like the hovercraft pontoons, the glider wings and propellers, and laskjflsajflsafkjlksafj

Anyhow Chitty Chitty and Vulg-Air are (C) Ian Fleming and United Artists

Thank you Falcon sir!
=3 Yes come to think about it! I've also been thinking of making a TaleSpin character too, so while I'm at it, might as well make an Iron vulture + Carnage Tri-Plane.

I must admit, letting MLP creep it's way into this old classic was a wonderful idea. Gilda looks great as the coat-of-arms!

And thank you my dear!

Hey, at first I thought that was where the naming came from! --but then I read the description and learned something.

Surely by this time next year you could make that car.

Be fun to land THERE, off a lake, on mountain, with an underpowered non-rigid!

No kidding. O.o I'm more worried about landings.. The Bug engine has plenty of power to move it around, but the small tail and sluggish turning makes for interesting parallel parking between the towers of Neuschwanstein castle. o.o;

Thank you Groovy dear! Fleming has a wicked sense of humor, I love it, and it shows not only in his James Bond series, but also here in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang! Vulgaria and Vulg-Air... OMG!!! Later when I grew up enough to understand the significance, I almost broke some ribs from rolling aroundΒ  like a loony giggling!

I am right with you, Groovy gal! Chitty is also my favorite, a classic right up there with Marry Poppins and Peter Pan.
