Awesome1^^
A lot of people are saying she's dead...but I don't think so. I think she just have a busy job and no time for her kids...

I like the outfit you drew her in. It is reminiscent of Donald yet still unique.
I do have some thoughts about what could have happened to Della and her husband. One theory is that they went on vacation after he got out of the hospital from the fireworks incident. (Since these are Disney ducks, I doubt getting burned by fireworks would be anywhere near enough to severely threaten his life.)
Another thought is, his job might have relocated him and Della went along with him (after being raised by Hortense and Quackmore, I imagine she has a bit of temper in her!). She might have intended to send a letter but it always got lost or something came up to distract her. Lots of possible story angles.
Hmm. What do you think her personality is like? Calm, sweet, and friendly like Matilda or just as irascible and volatile as the rest of her family?

Oh. My. God. A long comment! O-on one of my paintings!
Well, I always try to stay true to Don Rosa, so the outfit is the one he has used. Della only appears two times; in the end of "The Empire-Builder from Calisota" and on the family tree. The clothes she wears on the family tree look like the ones she wore in 1930, so I assumed they were identical. I only added some sleeves to make it look better. And then I made the details yellow, as they are in most publications. In the Scandinavian Don Rosa Collection they are pink, though, but I thought yellow looked better and wasn't so gender-stereotypical.
I think Don Rosa has tried to place Della's and her husband's present home once in Tralla La and another time in the Castle McDuck, but he skipped both due to several reasons. Both are good explanations, though, and so are yours. There are many, many possible story angles, but as Don has said, it is impossible to make a story about HD&L's parents that isn't too sad or totally pointless.
Well, since Don Rosa made Donald and Della twins, I guess he would have made her personality either identical to or the total opposite of Donald's. He seems to like playing with personalities that way. But she is never seen angry, and on the family tree she has a normal smile, so she could be somewhat like Matilda. HD&L don't seem to be ill-tempered at all either, so they could have inherited it from their mother. Then again, maybe she is often a calm and friendly person, but doesn't quite get along with her brother and parents? Maybe she is a strict mother but otherwise a sweet person? Oh god, oh god... So many possible universes!
Thank you, thank you for showing engagement in my picture. I really appreciate it.
