I LOVED the bit about their maw gapping
I had actually thought of doing something like that ina comic of mine and it's quite fun to see it happen ^^

Thanks! In your comic, though, it would be a bit different. Assuming there is no "language barrier dissolving magic", your characters would still need to get actual words out somehow. They could probably do this with their throats, like Parrots do. Neat, huh?

the idea was indeed that their larynxes morphed into something close to human lips and moved as their maw stayed open

What if for a day alll the magic in felarya Vanished. There wasn't even a trace of on felrya what would happen?

Most people wouldn't understand each other, given the countless different languages of different worlds... Fairies, elemental Nagas and other such beings would lose their powers... diseases would run rampant and injuries would no longer heal so easily... and whatever magic makes people so scrumptious and addictive to giants would probably wear off, making us all taste like shit.

Gives some the upper hand. I think its possible to remove all the magic in felrya.

Interesting. Helpless as they are, it would appear that words are the only thing that might help them now - barring outside intervention.

Words can be powerful, if uttered in the right combination, to the right person, or at the right time. In Felarya, there's just a lot of pressure not to louse it up.

Definately in a no-win senario for them. there is no way out except for the dryad's mercy which i have the feeling that the dryad isn't in a merciful mood. The saurotaurans aren't and are likely to convice the dryad to eat them. But this is your tale to tell.

I figured this much. He-man powers activate? Morphin time? Somthing! Maybe the dryad will take pitty on them and their story of loss since they can both relate.

I would be pissed as well if something like this happened to me.
(Nathan probably knows better than I do...)
