Hey folks!

Freedom Fighting Friday's mandatory FREE MARS illustration today is a bit different than usual. Why? Because I couldn't do the full-color piece I'm used to what with wrestling various deadlines and assignments that couldn't be overlooked. That said, this image has certainly raised an interesting debate in my head that I think is worth sharing.

As you may be aware, doing full-color images traditionally can be quite time-consuming; despite the great results which you've all praised here in my gallery and I thank you deeply for. So, as I was contemplating this latest illustration and deciding to go with pen and ink, I started wondering what an actual story in the FREE MARS universe would look like in B&W.
It's certainly not a crazy idea. At some point, Dave Pauwels (the writer of FM) and myself thought of going full black and white with a story to speed up the publishing process and be able to continue to offer stories set in this world we created without failing to deliver or taking an awful ammount of time between updates and so forth. But our talks died down due to us being caught up in other endeavors and so that was that. However, having decided to start up again this year, I'm haunted by the fact that I know I could deliver a lot of updates and move a new tale forward at great speed if done in this style versus color. But what would the fans think? Would they join us in the venture? Well, I thought I'd throw the question out there for us to ponder. I'm certainly not sold either way and this may not be more than mere musings, but I've found that putting these thoughts outside oneself can help a great deal to define more clear paths to take.

There's a definite grittier, more cyberpunk vibe to this stark rendering style and I've posted the inks of all the previous images I've done of FM since the relaunch announcement that I've been saving in my hard drive just in case. You can check them on my Instagram or FB.

So, I hope you enjoy this new piece of Taryn Vexx killing the audience softly with her antique Hofner violin bass and gothic undertones
