RebeccaBrogden has invited me to join the Enchanted Visions project, and to do so I need to complete 4 of their previous themes. So, here's my second submission: Dreaming on Aquamarine Tides.

Many men hold their breathes whenever they see any kind of movement off the boat. A splash there, a ripple here. They swear they saw a fin once. They exchange tales of the lovely women who dwell in the water, playing with their hair as they flirt with sailors. Mermaids: the most sought after treasure the ocean has to offer for a young man out at sea.
But this woman is no mermaid.
She twirls her pearls around, taken from the last ship that had the misfortune of crossing her path. Spinning around, they tangle all around her. "Ah, beautiful! Simply beautiful!" She looks about the cave she resides in. Gold, gems, jewels, and other various treasures litter the floor, and she can't help but smile with sense of pride. "The year has been kind to us so far, old gal," she says to herself. "And to think the fishing season has only just begun." She picks up a mirror and admires herself, when a tang swims up to her and whispers in her ear. "Oh?" She smirks and plays with her hair. "Well then...we must go greet them." She blows a kiss to the fish and begins to swim happily towards the surface, clearing her throat. "Those poor men must be dying to see something extraordinary," she says with concern to the fish. Then she cackles to herself, "Like, say, a mermaid?"
But this woman is no mermaid.
She...is a siren.
