Oh well. (:
I wanted to something that looked like a storybook illustration, inspired by this book I got when I was three years old. I still have that book, and it is beautifully illustrated.

I probably wouldn't have finished this if my mother didn't want to see it coloured so badly.
This girl was originally blonde in my head, but the colouring I made was too lame and I made her a redhead. XD

Media: Faber-Castell markers + colour pencils, 0.2 + 0.05 mm Mitsubishi fineliners and a white gel pen.
Time: About 8 and a half hours.

I was instantly going to say that this reminded me of something out of a fairy tale book and then I read your description. The door and window are nicely done as well as the characters emerald green dress. I also really like her face & hair.

This illustration reminds me a lot of Rumpelstiltskin. You know...'cept the fact that your character is wearing an elegant looking gown. I think one of the main reason I got attracted to this piece is not only because of the vivid colours but also the line works. This artwork is so beautifully coloured. And I love the lighting and contrast as well. Its just perfect. I love the details you put on her gown and hair and her worried expression amuses me. Maybe its because your drawing has this whimsical style to it. But I love how her face tells the viewer a story.

I admire how you drew the outlines especially the ones on that door. It must've taken a lot of patience to complete this huh? I LOVE it. It is spectacular. Keep it up. You're doing excellently.

That seems to be the main impression on this drawing... but I like it, because Rumpelstiltskin was always one of my favorite tales. I even had the opportunity to write a parody of it for school along with a good friend of mine, about three years ago. (:

I did spend a lot of time in this, and gave it my best. The background was the most tiresome part, since I spent about one hour drawing and coloring the bricks, but the door was actually really fun to do, which is why I hope I have the opportunity to draw wood like that again.

I really like the texture and use of color in this image. You even put in wood grain, which is very nice.

You need to put in a bit more shadowing, especially under things like her dress. Otherwise it looks like she's floating.

Very nice textures I especially like the wood of teh door. The bricks could use a little work, they seem squished in one of the areas. All around nicely done

Haha, it did take me a long time, but it was worth it.
