Just playing around with more basic coloring and retro styling. This is feeling even more like a Hanna-Barbera cartoon than the previous drawing. Maybe I need to explore this idea some more.Related content

angel and iceman have the same facial expression, was that on purpose?

Not really, Angel was supposed to look overconfident and cocky and Iceman was supposed to appear a bit mischevious, in a childlike way. However, I can see how they might look similar in the finished version. I think it's the turned up corner of the mouth that's making them appear alike. I do feel that I put enough differences into their eyes to indicate different expressions, but I didn't really spend a huge amount of time on this, so it's possible most of that could have been lost. Just learning to simplify an image to its most basic elements is the real challenge for me in these kinds of drawings, which is why I find them so much fun to do.

Very very hanna-barbera, this kind of look is what I would honestly expect if they ever did a cartoon (scooby do era *shudders*) of the X-men. Brilliant design.

Thanks! You'd think that with today's technology and with how simplistic those cartoons were, it wouldn't take too much effort to create one entirely from scratch. Maybe I'll have to put the "1960s Hanna-Barbera X-Men cartoon" idea on my 'long-term-projects-that-I-will-likely-never-get-to' list.

With that style of animation and the simplistic drawing? It would probably be a doddle for an animation studio today. I'm sure you'd make it look awesome
