Galvatron: Come now, Optimus! Tell me what is so important about this metal. Why do you need it? How will it be used?
Optimus: I've explained it to you already.
Galvatron: You told me it was important! But you didn't tell me why!
Optimus: That's because I know you too well, Galvatron.

It's amazing how scenes from '80s cartoons like "The Transformers" are so easily recreated.

I remember that scene from the Return of Optimus Prime. I found it interesting how Optimus somehow knew that Galvatron was Megatron

I think optimus found out since the 86 movie because his spark was within the matrix; so i assume thats why he never questioned who was unicron and who was galvatron and wtf happened after his death. He knew everything.

That 'kinda' makes sense. However, Prime did say that without the Matrix he did NOT have the wisdom of the ancients which is why he had to get the Matrix back from Rodimus Prime and travel back in time in order to find a cure for the hate-plague.

NotoriousAkber In reply to Destroyah [2013-03-24 18:49:19 +0000 UTC]
I think optimus was only reffering to the plague as he didn't have the knowledge on how to stop it. This is all arguable BUT bottom line is that Optimus knew what had happened, from megatron to unicron to his dead comrades (iron hide, ratchet, huffer etc.) I read this somewhere that this is all stated officially from the producers and script writers from the original G1 show.

If you referring to Wikipedia I would not trust that. It would be easier to say that Bumblebee (or Goldbug as he had recently become after being owned by Superion) could told him everything that happened.
As far as I know Hasbro has never published anything to the effect of an explanation as it really was not necessary to the plot of the story in the 'Return Of Optimus Prime.' The whole reason why it happened was because of a last ditch effort to save the series as it was starting to tank in the ratings due to anger and frustration of Optimus Prime being killed and other cartoons such as TMNT becoming more popular.
WE knew who Galvatron was so it wouldn't have added anything to the story to have a explanation as to how Prime knew Galvatron was Megatron. Since Prime said himself that he did not have the wisdom of the ancients, and since Prime said himself that "he knew Galvatron all too well" and since he would have been briefed on everything that had happened up to that point that he was simple told Galvatron was Megatron.
Also, in "Dark Awakening" Optimus Prime was revived by the Quintessons in a plot to destroy them. Even though he was under mind-control, he was aware of himself and eventually broke free of his control. He saw Galvatron then too and there was plenty of down time for Rodimus, Kup, Ultra Magnus, or Spike to tell him who was what. Especially Rodimus who was slobbering all over him trying to give him the Matrix back.

Ahh finally i meet someone who has a similar interest as me. I am honored my friend. I grew up on G1 and will forever be a G1 guy (even to this day i watch the shows). I have all the vhs tapes of the g1 shows including the movie so my childhood was on that (same goes for the 87 TMNT). I am not reffering to wikipedia, i read somewhere about 2 years back on the tfw or seibertron about a screen shot from a magazine quoting numerous producers and script writers from the G1 show quoting that optimus was aware of his past and present and even they considered making an episode out of it but i guess that never happened (although it would have been cool that in just 1 episode it can show all the questions prime had for the autobots and they were answered) But like you said since dark awakening (even before that; since his essence was within the matrix from the great war) he knew what had happened, but there are numerous theories on this but bottom line was prime was caught up to date to what had happened. Unlike the other transformers spark and unlike starscream's undestructible spark; prime's spark even after he dies will be within the matrix. I guess pretty much every "prime" after death lies within the matrix with the ancient one like Alpha Trion. Dont matter; im a crazy TF fan and i love optimus and galvatron the most. I pretty much fell in love with TF specially after the 86 movie and season 3 and 4.

I'm the opposite. I fell OUT of love with Transformers after the movie because of Hasbro's shameless campaign to push a new toy-line by killing off all the models there weren't selling very well. They clearly cared more about selling toys than the integrity of the cartoon. You gonna kill off Ironhide, Ratchet, Prowl, Brawn, Wheeljack and Optimus Prime? That pretty much the entire main cast from the first few episodes. At least the most relevant ones.
I don't even want to get started on the abomination that is the Michael Bay movies and what has and is being done to G.I. Joe. When we finally got a 80s cartoon remake done right with G.I. Joe: Resolute, the choose to juts make it a one-time movie and make the new series (Renegades) completely off-script. Then when it came time to do Transformers: Prime (which isn't bad) they told the concept artist to make the characters look as least like G1 as possible even though the format is set up like G1.
I have ZERO respect for Hasbro. They can kick rocks.

Well we all have different views and opinions on this. I think it was a change in pace to remove the old characters and bring in the new ones. But to this day i get confused thinking about cyclonus and the sweeps because due to the animation in the 86 movie i cannot tell if cyclonus was really bombshell or skywarp.....many said skywarp cuz he was most loyal to megatron so after transformation he was loyal to galvatron. I had alot of hasbro toys that i cant even count but i did miss the old dead autobots as i thought they might come back but alas. As for michael bay; i hate his movies and him cuz every single transformers movie was shit shit shit!! and many think that the new transformers movie might be based on the 1986 re-make but i doubt it cuz he said in an interview that he absolutely hated the G1 movie and series. I dont watch any other transformers cartoons after G1 ended. I wanna watch the continutaion of G1 to the next season after rebirth called G2 i guess. It shows what happens after Galvatron leaves cybertron and the next war continues, thank GOD it has all the same characters from G1 but only problem is that its in Japanese. Im trying to find an English Dub.

Cyclonus was Bombshell, but . All the decepticons were loyal to Megatron accept Starscream really. I would say Soundwave was the most loyal decepticon to Megatron. In the movie after Prime kicked his butt it was Soundwave he cried out for.
I've seen a few of those episodes on Youtube. Soundwave actually was very instrumental in those episodes as well.

Thats what i thought too. From an insecticon to Galvatrons right hand man. Quiet a big jump (he filled starscream's gap imo). Soundwave has been that even after Megatron became Galvatron. In so many episodes i saw soundwave alongside Galvatron so your right about that. Do you know where i can watch the continuation of rebirth (G2) in English dub? because they are all in freaking japanese!!!

TF-The-Lost-Seasons In reply to NotoriousAkber [2013-04-08 05:37:18 +0000 UTC]
The G2 cartoon wasn't a continuation to anyhting, they simply took some of the old G1 episodes and added a few computer effects, nothing new storywise, you can see the first episode here: [link]
Now what you are actually thinking of is the japanese Headmasters series, which is an alternate take on season 4, it's not a continuation of the Rebirth, but you can watch in its place as a continuation to season 3, be warned that it has a different sensibility, much more japanese (for obvious reasons) than the first 3 seasons. I'm not sure but I think there was a recent release of this in DVD in the US. In japan there were 3 more seasons after Headmaster: Masterforce, Victory and Zone, the last one having only one episode. Here it is the first Headmasters episode in english, although it's a fan dub, it's a very good one: [link]

I know about G2 but i keep reffering to it as the Head Masters. The japanese headmasters although continued before rebirth BUT how come the term head master exists? And how are there target masters as well? I honestly think the head masters ignored a few events of Rebirth and took some key events of it (MINUS THE NEBULONS)The Head masters was dubbed in English in Hong Kong and Malaysia and some other Asian countries but so far i cant find the original broadcasted dubs except for FAN dubs which i dont like. I watched about 5 mins of the first episode fan dubbed and i didnt like it. Galvatron's voice was so un-original and they all sounded bad. So im still searching for an original english dub. In Masterforce, Victory and Zone; do Optimus and Galvatron exist? or they stayed dead? I dont want to watch a show without either one of them.

The main difference about the headmasters and targetmasters between the rebirth and Headmasters series is that in the american version the little partners are human-like nebulans but in japan they are actually robots cybertronian transformers just like all the others, only smaller, the big robot bodies doesn't exist as living beings in this case, they are more like giant armors for the small guys.
The asian dub is awesful if you ask me, I live in Chile, and I'v watched the spanish dub that's based in the asian english one, I don't know why but they changed many names for human-like names, can you believe Blurr is called Billy, and Arcee is called Sylvian in it?!!!
I think your best bet is tracking down those new DVD releases, don't know about their voices, but they are official, so I guess they won't be bad.
As for Masterforce, Victory and Zone; no, Optimus and Galvatron aren't in them, closest thing would be God Ginrai, that has the same design as the toy you know as Powermaster Optimus.

ok im confused then, i have to watch the show to understand but let me clear this up, the original g1 robots dont exist then? if these little robots exists. In the few minutes of the opening of headmasters i did see galvatron and scrouge. This is a bit confusing, im gonna wiki this and check it out. Ill check with some real transformers gear head with the original english dubbed headmasters. Im not gonna watch masterforce, victory and zone then.
