Description An artistically embellished scene from Victor Hugo's novel Les Misérables and third of a series of 5 (so far.) I think the perspective on this one worked out better, although the bridge is stretching into nothingness.

Spoiler, but of the "Sephiroth kills Aerith" variety. (translation: if you haven't already encountered this spoiler, where have you been?)

One of a long series of heart-wrenching scenes that occur in quick succession in the last 300 or so pages of Les Misérables: Javert's suicide.

"Before him he saw two roads, both equally straight; but he did see two; and that terrified him--he who had never in his life known anything but one straight line. And, bitter anguish, these two roads were contradictory."
— Victor Hugo (Les Misérables)

*EDIT* Apologies to anyone who favorite-ed the wrong deviation when DeviantArt decided I had submitted this twice. This is the second time I've had that happen, and I still don't know what I'm doing wrong. Please bear with me, I'm new at this.

You really got the anguish in his expression. Very nicely done. Poor Javert.
