Description
A sculpture of a dragon I have recently done in school!

I wanted to practice using clay and armatures before making my final piece of the year (which I will post pictures of later :3)

This is my first time working with clay and sculpting (apart from when I was really small + playdough xD)

But I really love how he's turned out so far ; u ;

SO. He's about a foot long. I used a really basic wire armature, then built up from that with plastercine clay, so he's really solid and heavy yet kinda bendy and fragile all the same. Its taken about 8-9 hours to get to this stage.

The wing membranes are card, and he's coated in varnish to make him a bit more harderer, so now he's ready to paint!

I'll post pictures when he's ready and painted, but in the mean time;

got any colour combos? n___n

oh! and I fidled with the image in photoshop so you could see him better :3

The actual model is with my old school, that are keeping all of my work because of a problem with my GCSE marks, with their hopes of getting it all remarked properly.

I'll get close ups as soon as I get it back :3

Hey I'm sorry to hear about the mix-up with your marks! that blows! But at least it sounds like you're getting the chance to have it put right :] - I hope you get it back soon, and I hope you get the marks you deserve!

Ahh, thank youuu x3
Yes, first proper attempt.

Plastercine is the soft stuff. I've varnished it to give it at least some durability though n___n

Thank you again <3

it looks pretty good from the angles you've shown here, but it would be nice to see its face better .. maybe add a closeup?

Yeah, the reason theres no close up as this was in school, where the sculpture is; I was waaay late to go home, so I took these quickie shots.

Next time i go in i'll be sure to take a few detail shots, probably when I've started adding paint n__n

Do eet! I'm sure everyone would be suuupar impressed. And homg what if you used those SHINY PAINTS, like mixing silver paint with everything for painting the butterfly wing parts? It'd be so mesmerizing xDD
