Iruka’s hands slid along the floor, leaving crimson trails, as he tried to hold onto something to keep him from reaching out for the man he loved as he walked out the door. The chuunin squeezed his eyes shut, grinding his teeth together to try and keep the agonized sobs inside.From my story: [link]
The image is much cooler than I can do, but I had to try. Curse you stupid fascination with red-on-white things!
I think I'm getting better with this coloring style. What do you think?

I like your use of shadow. The way it transitions into light is very well done--something I want to learn how to do on Photoshop (tell me some time).

I read a poem once that was about trying to save a dying bird, and the line went something like 'blood on ivory skin' and since then...I can't help. It's an almost morbid fascination on my part
