So I'm working on my novel, writing a romantic seen that takes place in a palace garden under a violet sky. Then this image pops into my head. There are no lovers, no palace, nor a violet sky. I don't know. Either I haven't had enough caffeine, or I've had too much. The raven is one that I made a very long time ago, and is used as the logo for my business. If you look carefully at the bottom right corner you can see the original logo. The rest of the image is completely new.

Anyhow I know what this represents. In Nordic lore, Odin had two pet ravens. They were named Hugin "Thought" and Munin "Memory." Odin would send them across the world and they would observe and remember. Later they would tell him all they had seen.

Thus the raven in the dark represents the idea of thought and memory being lost. The rising moon represents the hope, that enlightenment will come, and that they shall soon find their way back home.

Update: I liked this image so well that I made a variation, wich I now used as my avatar.
