"..I've gotten used to"Oh gawd, this horrendous photography of something that really is pretty irl..
Anywho, this has been my small project for a week and a half and now it's ready!
I had reference from a photo shoot with Coco Rocha, but I made my own interpretation of it and this is what happened.
70 cm tall
50 cm wide
Aquarelles on 300 g/m2 paper

And so comes the long-awaited critique I promised you.. >8DD
First I have to comment on the photograph. When I saw this first I thought the colors were really nice, but after seeing the painting live I have to agree with you on the point that the picture does no right to the original. But, nonetheless there's a sort of dreamy atmosphere to the painting, which makes it very pleasant to look at. The red hair and the blue eyes contribute nicely to the otherwise very harmonic color palette. I would say that the only thing that disturbs me in this drawing is how the bottom part ends. You'd expect some feet, but when there are none the drawing mostly leaves you confused. Is she human or something else? A doll perhaps?
Compared to the upper part the bottom half is also clearly less detailed. It works well with creating a dreamy feeling to the drawing, but at the same time it feels like it could have been even more simplified and blurry, fading nicely into the background.
Overall, I think this is a lovely piece of work.

You're right about the bottom/feet, but in the end end I didn't find it necessary to paint them there, even if it would've contributed to the picture in some way. Maybe I'll add them later on if I suddenly feel like it...?
Nevertheless, I agree that this picture is a little heavier on the head-side, I won't defend myself what comes to that. I guess it's my own fault for following my vision instead of the reference.
Anywho, I really appreciate your opinion, it's not everyday you get a C&C like this. I'll try to do even better next time!

Maybe you will add them... In the end, the artist is always the one with the artistic freedom and has the right to do whatever happens to feel right.

I have some issues with her legs.. Same kind of issues I have with her hands, because I didn't think they suited the picture, so I deliberately left them out. Hähä~
