I now have to take a photo in my favourite cafe in Sydney - Corellis(named afte Archangelo Corelli - an awesome composer whose mosaic'd portrait ogles you from the wall while you drink)...just because.
anyway, I rather like this picture - the yellowish tones create a warm, familiar atmosphere.

yes.
Corelli's 'studies for the violin' have been used to torture violin students for centuries ..
although my favourite cafe is in France, the Cafe Lorrain, in a town called Figeac, so excuse me one moment while my mind drifts back to those long blacks, the surly staff, the decades of accumulated grunge that seethed stories of knife-fights long gone .. le sigh ..

that's odd, a friend of mine's just come back from a three month stint working at a uni in france, and says if anything he's missed the australian coffee - the french just don't make it all that well.
although i imagine the atmosphere would make up for it..*envy at your well-travelled...ness..*

he's right. even parisien coffee can be pretty dire.
and if you're interested, drastically edited versions of my travelling diaries are online at:

and the cafe lorrain, in all it's grungy glory, stars on the entry on the 12 (or 13th) of july in the Pilgrimage dairies.
i'm having a long black, and it's my shout, so you're having a ???

double-shot moccha if i may - i'm a hopeless sweet-toother, it'll be the end of me. But thank you kindly *smiles*
I'll certainly give your travelling diaries a look - the same friend who regaled me with tales of bad french coffee is also well travelled, and i have a nice collection of drastically self-censored group emails from his years abroad.

maybe because she's the top of the triangular arrangement of faces, but i find myself returning to her face again and again as well ..

i'm really pleased with the (more or less) triangular arrangement .. and it happened (more or less) by accident.

I like the tones of this picture, they're cool.
Also the disembodied head just keeps attracting my gaze, there's something about the angle and lighting that draws your eye to her.
