Description
Based on a dream from May 10th 2015

Depicting a beach west of the Herculaneum gate, south of the villa of diomedes, and southeast of the villa of mysteries.
In that dream it was to have wooden arena bleachers temporarily installed for a venatio (hunts and fights with wild beasts) and ship ramps for a naumachia (mock sea battle reenactment with real violence, yay).

Acknowledgement : Pompeii is equipped with an amphitheater, true enough, but the arena size would compromise the scale such extravagances could reach.

Anyway, the show was over quickly over, even in that dream,
because the earth shook, Vesuvius woke up,
and everyone ran in panic before darkness even fell.

The wild beasts would add extra hazard in this chaos,
but the naumachia ships would offer an extra means of escape, so…
…there are worse places in a moment like this, I guess.
