Wow very nice^^ I'm curious which setting do you
use nowadays? I still like the black and white setting
but for color I use nostalgia a lot^^

Thank you!
I think I used either Dynamic or Nature (with added saturation, like +1 or +2).
I've not used black and white so much... I'm more into color at the moment. Gotta try Nostalgia some more though...

Do you ever shoot RAW? I tried it a few times but got really bored
processing the pictures.

I tried it in the beginning... but I didn't like the software that came with the LX3. I'm waiting for Photoshop CS4/ Lightroom 2 support.
But the processing can drive you nuts, I can tweak and tweak AND... tweak some more, but still not satisfied.
But you can get some really awesome results... if you're patient.

I guess I could be patient with ONE photo! ^^ hmmm not
a bad idea maybe to take 1 RAW photo a day just to get used to
it^^

You should! Try listening to "Tool - The Patient", it will work even better!

I was interested at the tz5^^ does it have
black& white mode or sepia setting? ^^

Yes it does! Biggest feature is the 10X Optical Zoom and that it zooms during movie taking! Does good macro, but not as well as our LX3. Otherwise it is quite a hot machine. I read online that many people have both the TZ5 and LX3. Sounds silly, but made me feel less a fool for having them both! The LX3 is my "Dress Up" camera, but the TZ5 stays in my pocket for spontaneous stuff.

hahaha don't feel like a fool they are both quite
different cameras^^ actually I have been thinking
of complimenting my LX3 as well with the panasonic
FZ18 for long range shooting^^
however I have no money to do it even my LX3
was just borrowed and then eventually was given to
me^^
My friend wants to buy the
LX3 to study photography after seeing
my photographs but I recommended she buy the Canon G9
or G10 so we can exchange cameras depending on our needs^^
also she is a reporter so I think the range would be
more suitable for her^^

is TZ5 much smaller than LX3? how is image quality^^?

LarryIkon In reply to Astrophia [2008-10-30 02:04:09 +0000 UTC]

TZ5 is a tad larger than the LX3. LX3 is thinner from front to back. Online comparisons tend to favor the LX3 over the G10, but I am waiting for picture by picture reviews. I had a G9, but sold it and got the LX2 because the G9 was a brick! Heavy as could be and the G10 appears to be even heavier than the G9! Huge! LOL

hmmm hahaha Lumix MANIA!!! ^^
I like Panasonic too ever
since I tried the LX3^^

I just noticed that the "L" on your avatar
looks like the gold "L" badge on the cameras^^
Panasonic seems to make these cameras for you^^

I never use iAuto, only manual settings.
Yeah, I read your journal with mixed feelings
You're nuts mate!

LarryIkon In reply to Opeth-Sweden [2008-10-29 18:07:29 +0000 UTC]

LOL! Indeed! Issue is that when I look at mid-range shots there is no visible difference. LX3 captures more detail, but you have to pixel hunt to see it. LX3 does better macro as well. I guess my issue is that the LX2 (yes! Had that too!) had a better zoom distance than the LX3. I now will carry both the TZ5 and the LX3... If you come up with any "Optimum Settings" that you recommend saving in C1/C2, please let me know! You seem to have found the best Sharpness setting already and I envy you for it! )

Okay, I used to have another camera before the LX3 that had better zoom range... but the quality of the pictures, awful.
I'm not so bothered by the smaller zoom range... I've came across some situations, but it doesn't happen so often. I guess I'm not that of a "zoomer".
Have you thought of buying any filters?
I will, I will

I guess you are right. I will just have to walk closer! LOL! I know they already have a wide-angle attachment lens, but I am quite interested in someone coming out with a zoom as well. We will see!

Opeth-Sweden In reply to LarryIkon [2008-10-31 01:38:08 +0000 UTC]

That's right! The wide-angle lens is pretty expensive... too expensive. 3000 SEK and that's almost 400 USD (USD 7,63).
A zoom lens would be interesting indeed
