We used to have a saying in Denmark something along those lines... A black dog has to be exceptional to beat an average black/tan which I always found quite disturbing. I think it was due to the fact that the black dog somehow would lose definition when stacked in front of the judge. So unless the judge went against the mainstream and had b.... the good looking black dog always lost out to his b/t counterparts. Sad isn't it

Muchly agreed! I prefer a very black and little tan shepherd over the complete black/white/tan sheps. (Not to mention they're mutant genes).

Hmmm I think my ultimate colour is solid, very dark head, saddle, and legs . Also I like the very dark grey dogz. My last big man I lost was huge, like a Timberwolf. I bred him self, and we had 12 years and one month, of a dogged devotion. Gosh I miss him.

Aww sorry to hear about that My last one, Lobo, was also big. You'd never be able to mistake him for a female. He was so calm & laid back. Such a smart and terrific animal. He lived to 15... His organs started to fail and he couldn't keep his back end up anymore.. Poor guy.. I miss him too. But after 4 years without a shep doesn't feel right, you don't feel as safe as you used to. Vauko isn't a replacement, but he's also a great companion to have by your side. He reminds me of Lobo in so many ways... It's strange how the world works.

Yes such is life and you know, you just can't buy good company, you earn it, so there you are kid. I bet Lobo is happy watching you and Vauko enjoying each others company.
I know it sounds a little daft, but time will sort you out, and you will once again be allowed to care for a shep. I am deliberately using the term allowed, as with all things living, we don't own, but we may borrow.
See you soon
